I just ordered a rare Japanese magazine and got this message from the seller:
hello
Thank you for your purchase
How about DHL (it will arrive in a week)
it's an extra $8
It's actually an additional $14, but I'll cover the difference.
I recommend DHL as it will have a tracking number.
you are my valued customer
i want to continue business with you
Thank you
New to eBay and want to avoid getting scammed. I don't really mind paying that. Not really sure how to though.

Reply to the seller that you will pay the amount in the listing. If they won't honor that, I'd not want to continue business.

To add to what @mtgraves7984 advised, I'd reply to the seller (through ebay and the transaction), "you may ship by any method you desire but I shall pay the amount as indicated in the listing."
(Did the message you received actually come from the seller?)

NEVER pay for extra shipping. If the seller messed up , they will have to ship and pay the difference and hopefully they learn by their mistake.
