Is anyone else dissatisfied with the order tracking on purchased items?

Tracking is lacking.  More often than not anymore all you find out is that a tracking number was provided, and perhaps that item was dropped off or picked up, and then nothing until the item is delivered.  Estimated delivery times don't seem to mean much either.

Most of my items have pretty good tracking. I did recently have a media mail item that only showed an acceptance scan of 10/15 and then a scan on 10/21 when it arrived in Washington DC, and it shows at the local post office on 10/22. When I inquired about it, the clerk told me that this problem has been popping up lately.

But otherwise just about all my items are showing good tracking and moving right along, even media mail.

The US postal system used to call it delivery conformation. They did point out it was not tracking in small print.  Over time it did include more tracking info. But, then it started to back slip again. Got worse for all the shipping services after Covid-19 went viral.

Not a buyer, but as a seller using USPS I find the tracking to be very good with the rare exception.

My carriers, and offices where I ship from do an exceptional job of scanning each, and every item.

Last month I did have one that the delivery person,  rather than changing their scanner event code to "delivered", left it set at a previous event, and scanned as "picked up" . I know for a fact that it was delivered.

Month before I had one that did not get a "delivery" scan, or at least it did not update, but as there has been no screaming by the buyer (knock on wood) I believe that was also delivered.

Most of the time,  USPS delivers great service.  From time to time, a box NY to California may take a week or longer first class.  Blame that on Mr. NoJOY , appointed by the orange man   and who is out to destroy the postal system.   There are now LESS employees .  There are less machines too.  ALL first class mail is now trucked in the 48 states.    My brother is a mail carrier for the past 20 years and by far,  the system is worse with this clown.  He is one of the few that will work until 7 to 8pm at night making sure that all boxes in his truck are delivered.  Not every employee is as dedicated as my little brother.

I don't ship any baseball cards . I know that type of cheap shipping is not always scanned.  I don't think that will improve.

"There are no less employees" https://www.statista.com/statistics/320262/number-of-usps-employees/

"There are less machines too" Less first class mail sorting machines, not parcel sorting machines.

According to a grievance filed by the American Postal Workers Union and obtained by The Washington Post, the Postal Service was poised to decommission 671 of the massive machines, about 10 percent of its inventory, and capable of sorting 21.4 million pieces of paper mail per hour. The Postal Service, by comparison, processes as much as 500 million items each day.

But Postal Service officials and industry insiders say the removals were part of a long-range plan, one that reflects Americans’ diminishing use for letters and growing reliance on package delivery.

"ALL first class mail is now trucked in the 48 states." Simply not true. I have many 1st class packages delivered in 2 or 3 days to zone 8, even have media mal delivered in 2 or 3 days to zone 8. You cannot do that if you send them by truck.
