Internatinal shipping calculation errors by eBay

This is my second post on this.

I have just removed international shipping from all my listings.

This has been happening to me for about two weeks.

Today's example: sold an item for a big $7 to someone in Canada. eBay tell them shipping for a first class package is something like $5.83 and that is what they pay me. Now, I go to print label and it costs me $15.60 for shipping--a difference of $9.37. The problem is always about this amount.

Well, towards end of last week, a nice fellow said that they would credit my account for the difference  for two separate items because it is eBay's mistake in their programming or whatever. I just now looked at my seller's account and there is NO credit there.

I called today before shipping this item. The agent on the phone was SUPER nice but was handing down ridiculous stuff from her supervisor. They said the problem can be the seller's fault for how they entered the item. I said, huh? I enter a package size and weight, and that is what it kept throughout this. I went on USPS and it said the larger amount that I must pay for the label is correct. But, somehow, eBay is charging international buyers about $10 less in many cases.

I am getting no satisfactory resolution and have now lost about $27-30 total on shipping of small items. I have removed international shipping from all my items now. I have also spent probably a half hour on several phone calls--all without a happy ending.

I would suggest that you look very carefully if you sell anything internationally at what they paid for shipping and what you must pay. Could be easy to miss if you are hurrying to ship something like a good seller.  Or, for now, just don't do international shipping to be safe.

It sounds like you actually may have made a mistake. Ebays calculator is just fine, it’s 99.9% accurate. Sounds like you may have chosen first class envelope when you set up the listing, which is incorrect. It should have been package. eBay doesn’t generally take The loss for the seller in this situation.

First, sorry I made a big mistake--looked more and eBay DID credit me for the two that they said they would on phone. I just couldn't find at first.

Just curious, how are YOU able to know the details of my case?

OMG, you are RIGHT!!! I just went on USPS.com and that is the price for an envelope that is totally flat.

So, I am the bad guy.

Oh my! THANK YOU for your post. I wish I could erase my message. But maybe better to just leave it here in case it helps others!

THANK YOU.

That exact issue happened to me yesterday. Ever since I started selling on ebay I have only used the Global Shipment program for international orders, but I have noticed that it charges international buyers alot of money. After many messages from international buyers asking if I could ship via USPS International for cheaper I decided to update my listings. Nearly immideately, I sold an item to a buyer in Canada and it charged the buyer $3.75 then when I went to purchase the label it said the cost was nearly $10.

I want to be able to offer a cheaper shipping option to international buyers.
