Incorrect calculated shipping cost for items previously set to letter or envelope type parcel

It appears that eBay has changed their system by removing the option to select letter, large envelope (a USPS flat), or package as the parcel type. I'm not sure those words are exactly what they were called since those options are gone.

However it appears that existing listings may preserve the letter or large envelope parameter. When clicking edit listing, which is what I do to see what shipping options I have selected, it will show that you have the currently allowed eBay package shipping options. However, internally the listing still has the old settings. I don't know if clicking save on the listing edit page erases the old options and corrects the values or not yet.

I was contacted eBay support about being charged $2.40 ($1.40 international letter to Canada + my $1.00 handling fee) for a package being sent to Canada that would cost be at least $12 to print a label. They said they reported the issue.

For anyone who has this issue, just making sure you know that if the editor is showing you that you have selected calculated shipping for a package, that what you see may not actually be the case.

Hey devon@ebay -- This is still a problem!! Can you please help us?

If the developers are going to continue using the letter/large envelope/package options in the shipping calculator algorithm, then we need to be able to edit the package type like we used to.  Alternatively, they could update their algorithm to always use "package" and ignore whatever the old settings were. This would be an insanely easy fix for any competent programmer.

@computerperson777  -- Excellent description of the issue, which persists. To answer your question about whether there are any workarounds to correct the values, I have only found one way to do it so far. If I change the shipping method to local pickup only, apply the changes to revise the listing, then go back in to edit it again, I can select standard shipping and fill in the shipping details -- This appears to give me a blank slate and sets the internal package type to package rather than letter or large envelope as I had previously. It's completely ridiculous that I'm going to have to waste hours of my time to manually do all of this when a decent developer could fix this for everyone in 10 minutes.

Hey @aggie*2002! Let me reach out to a few specialist to see if there are any insights that can be shared on this.
