Did you mean:

If a buyer says item doesn't match description how can you prove otherwise?

I think this description is pretty clear;

It's a little rough
look all the pictures over. This is a good starter piece / place holder until a better one comes along.

A little rough might describe scratches and scuff marks, but when there's damage where it's broke or chipped, that should be noted.

Describe as if there are no photos.

Provide photos as if there is no description.

You have lots of good photos, but some buyers don't look, and eBay does not make them look. (or read)

I had a return SNAD request where the buyer supplied a photo almost identical to the one in the listing to prove damage.  They claimed there were "no photos" in the listing. Damage was also detailed in the description.

That description is hardly clear at all.  What do you mean by "rough"?  Does it have chips?  Cracks?  If an item has flaws, they need to be clearly spelled out in the description.  Just saying "see pictures" is not a "get out of jail free" card to avoid describing any flaws an item may have.

Ya, but description is part of the listing also and the item needs to be described with as much detail as possible.

Sorry, but  pictures and description aren't proof of anything.  Buyers don't have to prove it's not as described and you can't prove it is.

You'll be forced to refund and get a defect for a case unresolved by the seller if the buyer escalates the case.

Accept the return and provide a return label and refund when it's been returned.  Otherwise eBay might refund and not require them to return it
