I'm new to Customs Forms, What do I fill out, what do I keep blank and where do I put the forms?

Hello All,

I have a package that I have to send out through the normal international route, and I have custom forms I have to fill out.

From what I see I have to fill out the item and information(size and weight), HS Tarrif Code, and I think I'm supposed to enter the ANS # which says

" If the value of your shipment is less than $2,500, enter 'NOEEI 30.37(a).'"

Is this the correct ANS Code, or do I not fill this out?

The Tarrif Code I see is

3818.00.00

The item is a Silicon Wafer.

According to the website:  that code is for "

Chemical elements doped for use in electronics, in the form of discs, wafers or similar forms; chemical compounds doped for use in electronics"

I've also seen a few that mentioned different last 2 digits such as .90 instead of .00, but I'm not sure if that's a huge deal... There is no .90 on the website though.  Only .95 for "Other" so I figure the "General" Code would be best?

I'm pretty sure the item was produce here in the USA, I also am not sure if I'm supposed to select "Merchandise" at the type of item, which is already selected.  From what i searched this is the correct choice for eBay sales to Customs, is this correct?

and from what I see I'm not required to select anything else and then just check the checkbox? i.e., no license #, no Invoice #, no comments, no certificate #?

From there, what sort of paperwork is involved?  Is it only a specialized label?  Do I place anything inside the package?  Do I have to sign anything?

I was reading a community post from 2017, but it didn't have half of the information required.  The post mentioned no need for tariff code or ANS, and said to sign, but I think this might be different from what I see now (which makes no sense as I would think the Custom forms would always be the same).  I just want to double check to see if I have to sign anything or not, or if the Ebay Check mark is considered the signature?

I appreciate any help/advice, thank you.

Customs form

The HS tariff code must have at least 6 digits and follow this format: 123456 or 1234.56

  • Item description
    Quantity
    Value (USD)

    Weight
    lboz
    HS tariff code

    Country of origin

Type of items in package
AES/ITN/Exemption
License number
Certificate number
Invoice number
Comments
I have read the shipping prohibitions and restrictions for USPS

and confirm that the information provided above is accurate and that my package is not prohibited by legislation or by postal or customs regulations.

EDIT:  Sry if the above is all wonky, eBay removed all the formatting because "Invalid HTML..."  Copied right from the shipping area..

I'm new to Customs Forms, What do I fill out, what do I keep blank and where do I put the forms?

the AES exemption is : 'NOEEI 30.37(a)

The safest way is always to use the 10-digit HS code.

3818.00.00 Chemical elements doped for use in electronics, in the form of discs, wafers or similar forms; chemical compounds doped for use in electronics

3818.00.00.10 Gallium arsenide wafers, doped
3818.00.00.20 Polycrystalline silicon wafers, doped
3818.00.00.30 Silicon carbide wafers, doped

3818.00.00.95 Other

you don't need to fill the license number, certificate, number etc. because of the exemption NOEEI

do the google search to find out whether these wafers are or are not prhobited, I have a feeling that computer related stuff might be prohibited

Some of us do not have to learn how to deal with customs paperwork.

We use Ebay international Shipping and Ebay deals with it. It also protects us from any claims after Ebay has accepted the item at its hub.

Consider using it on your other listings.

I'm new to Customs Forms, What do I fill out, what do I keep blank and where do I put the forms?

Thank you for the information.

These wafers shouldn't be Prohibited.  I remember another comment talking about that the Wafers that are older are used as art, etc, and aren't like the more modern ones that require licenses, and such, because they are actually in use and are being shipped from the actual companies in large quantities.  Someone else mentioned the something about prohibited items, and that was the response.  This was on another post of mine from a month or so ago, when i was asking about sending to 2 other international buyers.

I've sent a number of wafers already Internationally (including one to this buyer years ago, but I don't think I did customs stuff like this with the global shipping program back then).  I've sent about 5 or so to someone in New Zealand.  I also just sent 2 via EIS, 1 to Canada, and 1 to South Korea, and both went through eBay's Hub without issue, so I can't see me having an issue with this one.  At the same time, the 2 that went through the HUB, I think are still awaiting customs, but I would think that eBay would have caught if there was an issue and would have flagged it, because I doubt they want issues on their end, so they should be way more familiar with the regulations and deal with it, than me.

Plus since I've already sent multiple of these Wafers to someone in New Zealand, the one that went to this guy in Italy already years ago, etc.. I should be fine...  Granted, the New Zealand guy has a forwarder from the US, so I never dealt with Customs, etc, but that shouldn't stop the prohibited item from getting flagged.  I've also sent wafer dies to Canada a few times as well as a Wafer to Mexico.

So I think I should be okay?

Thanks for the concern though!

Either way... The Package has been sent out.

I appreciate your help!

EDIT: The Package to CAnada passed through Customs via EIS earlier today, so I don't think I will have a problem.

Thank you though!
