Hay di hi ladies and gents.
I have a kind of not eBay selling question. Simply curious....
I live in Virgina. I would expect that mailing to Florida, should be about the same as anywhere else on the east coast. However, It is not. It is about as much to mail to Florida as it is to California. Does anyone know why it that way?
Thank you Penny

There are many here who have shown a willingness to help resolve these types of questions
BUT
Without any details we can not. We need FROM and TO ZIP codes, and the size and weight of the package in order to formulate a clear answer.

Hello Penny!
The shipping rates are typically based on zones from the shipping point. I doubt a shipment from Virginia to Florida would be similar in cost to something going to California. However, could you please provide us a ship from zip code & ship to zip code, weight of the parcel, & dimensions? That way, the many shipping experts here can provide accurate commentary.
Best regards

USPS rates are priced by 8 Zones which are based on ZIP Codes. You can generate your own handy 1-page zone chart and a very useful and colorful map using these sites:

As my niece has observed, "Florida is a very tall state." The cost to ship to its southern tip might be higher (i.e., a different Zone) compared to its northern areas. And for some USPS services, the price might not be very different if you're comparing two adjacent Zones. Here's a link to the USPS's main price reference document:
