Hi, I have been an eBay Buyer forever and during the pandemic I decided I would start to prepare to be a Seller. Now they have that $600 cap on money made annually, which is just a turn off. I have been saving all sorts of boxes and packing materials and want to get rid of them. Does anyone think I could find a taker...free local pickup!

There is no "$600 cap on money made annually".

Where did you hear you can only make $600 annually? you can make a $million if you have the goods and the incentive.

$600 without the IRS getting involved. It used to be 20K.

Okay.

I was hoping to be ecofriendly by giving them away.

Can't edit, can't delete. I did not mean you can only make $600, but that's when the IRS gets involved and thanks for your answers. They were all very helpful in making me decide I want nothing to do with selling on eBay.

On Craigslist there is a section where you can offer free things locally. Nextdoor has a similar place as well. I'm sure someone would love to get those free boxes and packing materials. That is good for the environment to offer them up for reuse as well.

I will not be checking back, so no new answers are worth your time. Thank you.

So it's a waste of time and energy for me to suggest that that same income rule will prevail on any online selling site?

You will definitely find a taker for the boxes. If any of its USPS packaging, then just drop it off in the lobby and peeps will pick it up.....there are always other resellers who would take the boxes after dropping off their parcels.
Good luck!

Here in NYC, when I want to give away something useful like clean shipping boxes (or anything else), I place them at the edge of my front yard or on the sidewalk in a box with a "Free, Please Take" sign. People who have a use for them will take them.
