I am the seller, I have a decent amount of items listed right now. Ebay has stood behind me up until lately on returns. I list very straight forward, but lately I have had a handful of buyers say that my item is not as described and because they have checked that box as a reason, they automatically get to return the items. One case, the lady just decided she didnt like it, so I was out the shipping to get it to her and the shipping back just because she used "item not as described". I had a sealed gasket kit, which these particular ones are worth it if it has never been opened, now that it was returned, the buyer opened it - got a full refund plus i paid to ship it to him and he wasnt familiar with exactly what he needed and made the mistake buying my item. So I loose in two ways, my shipping twice - to and from - then the package that is opened is now worth less and will be hard to sell. I have 3 more cases with that same situation. How do I protect myself? It seems like the customers can simply say its not as described and win no matter what. Once i called ebay - sat on hold for 32 min waiting - and they specifically told me how to handle the first item, they told me to allow her to return it and send her the label at my expense and then submit an appeal because everything in my listing was just as it was listed. When the item came back it was automatically refunded, I called ebay to ask them what I do to submit an appeal and they told me I couldnt because the buyer choose "not as listed". It just seems like we sellers dont have a chance in the world, offer the item with free shipping, and then the customer cansned it back at our expense simply because they check a certain box labeled "not as listed"

Did you check in the resolution center or your dashboard where it shows your return cases, for an appeal link?

I find it much easier and better to call.
