Help with Buyer calculating his own shipping cost

I am listing an item and I havent used ebay in over a year. I used to find the shipping cost easy but now I am confused. In the item listing I checked the box under Domestic Shipping that "cost varies on buyers location" and I checked TWO options of USPS and Fedex. When I list it, it only shows up that the cost is USPS at $9.80! YIKES! If the package goes to CA (from IL) it will cost ME more than $9.80! I don't know what I am doing wrong. AND also, I can't find the option anymore that allows me to SCHEDULE the sale to start in a day or two. PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks, AnnaMarie

I'll address this part. When you tick the box, you'll see the shipping cost to your zip code. For other locations, enter the old 90210, my 37066 (TN) or a zip in Washington state, for example. If the prices to those areas don't cover you... adjust your package size. Good question and good luck.

You aren't doing anything wrong.  As noted in the other post, the shipping calculator automatically shows the shipping cost from your ZIP Code to the ZIP Code of any member who looks at your listing. When you look at your own listing, you see the cost to ship to your own ZIP Code.

IIRC, eBay has tried out a policy of not showing all of the shipping methods, if one is far more expensive and has about the same estimated delivery time.  IMHO this is not a good idea, because some buyers have a strong preference for one carrier and would be wiling to pay extra; why not let the buyers decide?
