Help me decide which box to use for a Priority Mail listing?

The buyer bought an item and the shipping requested is "USPS Priority Mail Package"; I've printed the label out. However, the dilemma is, is that there are "Flat Rate" boxes, "Regional Rate" boxes etc. and I simply do not know which box to use! eBay does not tell me which of these boxes to use! Under Shipment Details, I find only that it says USPS Priority Mail. Also, the label say "Priority Mail 1-Day". Perhaps I need to take my item and label to the post office and get this sorted there?

Okay you are new to selling online. I highly suggest, more urge you, to read up the TOS from eBay and do's and don'ts for selling. This forum is also a gold mine of information so start reading right away. When you have something to sell you first have to figure out which box you will use. You have to get the dimensions and weight of the item already boxed up in order for you to determine which manner of shipping you will use. It is the seller who decides which manner of shipping to use, not the buyer.

That said now you have a slight dilemma to handle. The size of your priority box is again determined by the size and weight of your boxed item. The flat rate boxes are typically not very large. Flat rates are for large envelopes, they are flat rates because your item must fit in the envelope and then they all ship for that price. The regional sized boxes are the larger boxes and therefore more expensive. You can go onto USPS.com and that will tell you the dimensions of each box with a photo.

All this is stuff you need to determine in advance. You may have printed out the wrong label because not all labels are the same even though they say priority mail. The label is based on the size box as that is the price you are being charged for. If you put the wrong label on your item it will be rejected at your post office, or worse it will be shipped with additional postage due to the recipient. That will surely get you into trouble with your buyer who will not be happy having to pay more money to receive their item.

Again, all this is stuff you need to research and read up on in order to move forward correctly. You can do this but you must spend time reading and understanding how this all works. Best of luck to you....

First you should have already figured out the mailer BEFORE you listing went live.

It looks like you have calculated shipping so what you need is a NON FLAT RATE or NON Regional Rate box or mailer. Any box that doesn't say Flat Rate or Reginal Rate will do. It doesn't even have to be a USPS Priority box it can be any box you have handy. JUST MAKE SURE IT ISN'T OVER A CUBIC FOOT.

Since these are soft items (jackets), you can also use a USPS Priority Tyvek envelope (not a flat rate envelope), These are larger and available at all Post Offices. They ship by weight and distance, if you weighed your item accurately this is probably the way to go. If you just weighed the item a box will add weight and your label may be short paid.
