HELPLESS USPS INSURANCE

Hello to everybody, I have go soooo mad today.
I had a damaged item claim with usps.
Package was shipped via Ground Advantage (insured for $100 automatically).
USPS asked me to bring damaged item all packaging and wrapping to their office.
Only in 3d office they accepted my stuff with their letter.
But stated immediately box is flimsy.
I new what they wanted to say.
Their priority boxes are much weaker then I used.
So so so.
Result.
Do not waste your time filing a claim with them.  Helpless service absolutely helpless.

I agree, the worst insurance with so many excuses to avoid paying a claim. I guess you're guilty before proving you're guilty.

Yes it's hard (if not impossible) to win a damage claim with USPS.

They always claim the item was not appropriately packed (and they are usually right).

After all if it was packed well, it wouldn't have got damaged, right?    😉

Sorry this happened to you.

What sort of box was it? Was it less than 32 ECT? Because yes, anything less than that IS flimsy.

I believe you should never sell anything online you cannot accept the loss of.

I stopped bullet proofing may packages years ago.

Have never had more than 1% of my items damaged in shipment and most years it is under 1%.

Good enough is good enough, and packaging and shipping costs have only increased. And we all differ in how we define good enough.

USPS has had a reputation for not paying damage claims for at least 50 years. They certainly will not pay claims for the recycled packaging many Ebay sellers use.

I do not expect to have any first hand knowledge of how they handle claims, even with them adding insurance to Ground Advantage.

Thank you for all answers.
I have never bought extra insurance for my packages. I am 100% sure; it is waste of money.
Main problem for me, is lost packages. But who knows. All trackings shows delivery but customers claim it is not.
It is already close to 150 packages since Jan 1.
Damaged item is only 3. Not big deal.

It appears really simple if you have lost or had packages damaged that many times. You should review how you are packaging. I have shipped over 10,000 expensive items over the past 23 years and have only had one package(book) lost, but that was prior to tracking. I have received many FBs stating how well my items were packed.  I actually had a professional packaging engineer state the same.

I am amazed at the packages I receive as a buyer also on eBay. Some people just believe they can throw an item in an old used box or envelope and it becomes the USPS problem after they drop it off. I knew a lady who sold expensive jewelry on eBay that would use small Chinese food containers.  The ones with the wire handles.  And she wondered why she was getting a lot of damage claims from her buyers. She refused to change and blamed it on the PO.

As far as tracking, that is a simple one to verify, in case you were not aware. You can request the GPS location of the final delivery scan from your local PO, and then enter it into Google Maps. You can drill down right to the color or location of the mailbox where it was scanned. Every scan entered has a GPS location attached to it.

If you need additional help, just message me.

Good luck!
