So I won an auction listing on a best offer and the GSP cost was listed as £17.33. It still says that on the winning page. But when I go to pay it says I have to pay £33.22.. This isn't even close to the same. I tried to write to ebay about this because it isn't the seller's fault and they just tell me:
"The listings will show an estimate. The charges you see on the listing aren't final until you pay for the item at checkout. The final cost you’ll need to pay to have your item delivered will be confirmed at checkout."
I understand that. But is doubling the shipping really ok? Is there anything I can do? Their estimate seems completely misleading.
To be clear I'm not upset about the import charges or the quoted GSP price, I knew those when I placed my offer. But £16 extra on top of a £17 quote seems a bit unreasonable.

1st screen shot of OP shows amount in £stg and in euros.
This leads me to beleive that system recognised that buyer was located somewhere in europe and was not in UK and system isguiding buyer to Pay.
2nd screen shot of OP shows charges in £stg only and states that there will be NO additional Import charges at delivery.
Correct that if seller has enrolled in GSP then buyer has visibilty of postage and packing charges if they change shipping location to their country and under the heading " Import charges " shows that Import charges will be shown at check out which appears to have happened to OP as shown on 2nd screen shot.
This is my understanding of how GSP works and is based on actual information shown on my actual listings on eBay.

Your understanding as a seller, is not quite accurate.
The buyer can see what the charges are going to be -- exact charges for fixed price listings, and estimates for auctions where the purchase price is not yet known. They may have to look for the information, and many times the buyer does not set their shipping address/location while searching because it reduces the number of listings that are shown in the search. But they can find the information and costs, if they look for it.
I know what the buyer's viewpoint looks like. The OP's first screenshot showed default shipping to the UK, because they hadn't entered/chosen their address yet. They had won the auction, but had not yet gone to checkout. The second screenshot showed the GSP costs to their actual shipping address, when they went to pay. The third screenshot (in a later post) showed the GSP costs for a different listing.
If the potential buyer has not chosen their delivery address/country yet, then the listing shows the domestic shipping as the default, for example in a a fixed price listing:
If/when the potential buyer chooses their shipping address/country, then the international shipping cost is shown like this:
For a fixed price listing like that one, the buyer can put the listing into the shopping cart and go to Checkout to find out exactly what the import charges and total cost will be:
For auction listings, as long as the buyer has set their shipping address/location, then both the international postage charges (including domestic & international stages) and the (estimated) import charges are shown when the bid is placed. In this situation, the final purchase price is not yet known, so the import charges can only be estimated, but the postage costs are accurate.
If the buyer has not set their shipping address/location yet, then the bidding screen will show domestic shipping cost. It is up to the buyer to make sure that their shipping location has been set if they want to see the correct costs.
