One of my customers purchased a item from me (which was already posted) and I've just realised I send them the incorrect item.
What should I do in order to correct this. Guessing I can't just re-ship them a replacement as it's via GSP? If they open a return who pays for shipping costs? (It's probably not worth the expense due to high GSP shipping costs?)
Do I just refund them and get them to re-order?

I would refund and have them reorder.
