FedEx Smart Post, do you use it, and what has been your experience?

Just wanted to find out if other sellers use FedEx Smart Post and what their experience has been. I have had a couple of packages lost with this service and am somewhat hesitant to use it anymore. However, it is often the most cost effective service.

Nothing lost yet here knock on wood. I used to avoid it, but between eBay issues, fees, and false returns profit margins have to come first. I usually won't use it unless I am saving a minimum of $2. I don't care for the service, but I would guess it has saved me minimum $200 this year. No complaints about speed so far thankfully, but I try to set expectations as low as possible.

I have not used it myself for shipping, but I have received many packages shipped that way and I have never had any issues with it.

Used to use it quite frequently, not as often now, but no more or less issues than with USPS.  I've found no reason to avoid it, despite sellers that will tell you it's horrible and so forth.

I’ve never had a package lost. I use this option for heavier packages where there is a decent savings. It is slow though... very slow.

I will never ship anything again via FedEx (shipped 3 packages total FedEx lost all three).

I also avoid ordering anything shipping FedEx but if I do I try to get them to ship it SmartPost so at least I know it will once delivered to the Post Office it will be handled correctly. But like any other FedEx package, while FedEx has it it's pretty much a c**p shoot.

As a buyer i will not buy anything that has to travel that way. It takes forever and if things go wrong the two parties point fingers at each other.

personally I am happy to pay to get USPS postage.

I don't use it as a seller.

As a buyer, I usually won't buy from a seller if that is the method, unless it is the only one available, or if I'm not in a hurry. It is SLOW!!!
