I posted this in another thread but everyone should suggest to eBay via social media or the unsolicited ideas page that ebay should show buyers the cheapest price for shipping. I.e. fedex and ups can have a significantly different price even 1 zip code away from each other. If both options are offered, ebay shouldn't show the first price listed. Show the cheapest!
And for naysayers who say "I offer priority but leave parcel select as a cheaper option" then ebay should have a little box to click if you want to "show viewers the cheapest shipping cost".
This shouldn't be too difficult to implement. I'm no software guy but I can't imagine it would be that hard.

The SELLER determines what carrier and what method they are willing to ship. Buyers can't demand to have price comparisons and get to pick. If they could I would quit.

Agreed. So pick. I'm not saying let the buyer choose EVERYTHING. I'm just saying let the buyer choose between fedex or ups if the seller gives the option. I personally don't mark up the shipping on larger items and would love if I gave the buyer the option between fedex and ups, that they would see the cheaper option when they looked at the listing.

I do not give my buyers a choice. I decide. On some items, I have to ship priority mail because it's pricier or I don't have a regular box big enough to ship it. Make life easier. You, the seller decides. I also have about half of my items already packed in boxes, ready for more packing materials, tape and a label. I will be damned if I am going to re-box one of those items.

I never ship fed ex. UPS will pick up from the building free but Fedex, I have to drive 6 miles to drop off.
Sometimes USPS is cheaper and sometime UPS is cheaper. I want to choose as it is my profit margin.

I use USPS 1st class and thats it. I charge a flat rate of $5.50
its your money, ship how you want to ship
the more the merrier does not apply to shipping choices
keep it simple is the way to go with one method only..that is what works for me
every single day I have auctions end I have to combine them
having too many choices does not make it easy for combined shipping
less is better for me

I think that what you are saying is that if a seller has more than one shipping option in their listing that the buyer should automatically see the least expensive option in the search view. Is that what you mean?

Worst idea!
As a seller, it's my business and I want to be the one to decide how I want to ship, which shipping service(s) I want to offer, which shipping company I want to use and how much I want to charge.
If buyers don't like the company I use, the service I offer or the price I charge, there are plenty of other sellers on ebay to choose from.

We must be cousins. I agree with you . I have customers request UPS and Fedex and I more or less tell them to fly a kite. I decide. I also pre-pack about half of my items. I am not going to re-box to save the buyer a few cents.

There already is that little box to click. It's the shipping tab. Also the "see details" tab in the listing.
If you want to offer multiple shipping options, but show the buyer the cheapest first, you need to choose that one first when creating the listing. Then, click on "Add Services" to add others. For instance, if you choose Priority first when creating the listing, that is what the buyer will see as the primary shipping method. But they will be able to see other options that you offer either in the tabs mentioned above, and also at checkout if they decide to purchase.

I offer other options for shipping that are cheaper, but put in my listing that I will only be responsible for items when the buyer chooses USPS Priority Mail shipping. I emphasize that I pack carefully, but since USPS Priority is typically the least expensive option that offers "insurance" on the item (none of the carriers will refund your shipping cost), that is the only shipping option that I take responsibility for damage or loss. Then I leave it up to the buyer.

Guess what, you are lying to your customers. A seller is ALWAYS, ALWAYS responsible to get the item safely to the buyer. If I read your comment, I will not bid on your auctions. You have heard about the ebay money back guarantee, right? That is the way ebay was set up. If I get something from you and it's first class mail and it arrives crushed, guess who is going to give me a refund?

You must not be aware of ebay policy. YOU are the seller and YOU are responsible no matter what you sell and how you ship!

If the seller offers more shipping options, all the buyer has to do is click the Payments and Shipping tab to see the choices and charges.
