This is the second time this has happened to me in the last week. I am selling lower value coins for the most part. I use the same categories, the same envelope sizes, and the same weights every time. However, when I go to ship to the buyer, the ebay standard envelope option that was selected for the listing, and paid for by the buyer is greyed out and cannot be selected. As far as I can tell it isn't anything to do with the system being down, because I just printed out two other ebay standard envelope labels for two other items without a problem. Last time this happened I contacted Ebay support chat. The rep had me do a bunch of things I had already tried,
using mobile rather than my pc
clear the cache and history on my browser, reboot computer
try a different browser
use the business tool/bulk shipping tool
try changing the shipment to a lower weight/size
I google searched this but no one has any real solution. The rep told me to mark as shipped and wait 24-48hrs. I did, then had to ship with first class, so $4 shipping on a $3 order because it didn't change a thing. I got dinged anyway for late tracking upload.
So now i have the same issue again. Obviously Ebay customer service is useless. So has anyone else had this problem but been able to solve it?

Yep, lots are not eligible for ESE.
Once an item sells you cannot change the category.
eBay also restricts how many coins can be shipped ESE when not in the lots category (link) :
Since those were lots that included more than 3 coins in protectors, they would not have been eligible for ESE even if not listed in the coin lots category.

The Walking Liberty coins sold for $30 but the ESE limit is $20 value. You cannot purchase an ESE label for those.
The Bonepicker cards are not listed in the trading cards category - they're listed in the toys & hobbies collectible card games category which is not eligible for ESE.
Not sure which transaction is in question @blackdogretail? Is it one of the 2 mentioned above?

Hello,
In this case it is this transaction https://www.ebay.com/itm/234876044135
The previous one that I had trouble with was this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/234879697160
That one I just gave up and shipped first class and took the loss.
This one just sold and is not giving me any problem, it is letting me use standard envelope just like normal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234880792780

I just figured it out.
Those two got put under the category coins:world/collections:lots, which was a mistake
nomally my listings are in individual coin categories.
Proof that if I stare at a problem long enough, I will totally miss the answer. Thanks for sparking the idea.
Interesting question is, why did it allow me to select ebay standard envelope in the first place?
Does anyone know a way to change the category so that I can use the correct shipping?

Well live and learn. Thanks again. I know how to do it now.

There are things eBay CS can help with; general shipping inquiries aren't on that list. Come here any time with shipping questions.

I have had three times recently when it is offered to used the Ebay envelope option. Selling ONE baseball card! And then it doesnt offer the option its gray out. Its fraud! I emailed eBay 3 days ago no reply. Collecting a $1.29 then having to pay $4.59 is infuriating and wrong!

Item 276642656039 sold for more than $20 and items over $20 are not eligible for ESE. Which other listings did you have problems with @badabingclub ?
