Does anyone ship using First Class Mail Large Envelope?

I have an item to ship and can use USPS Large Envelope for $1.56 rather than First Class Package for $3.31.  The item sold for $8.95 with free shipping.  It's going to the next state over from me to a buyer with excellent feedback.  Is it worth the "risk" to ship it without tracking?  Has anyone done it and had a problem?

Depending on what your selling, it might also get damaged in the sorting machinery used for letter mail, especially if it is not uniformly thick.  If you can't use "eBay standard envelope" which has tracking, best to send it as a package.

The risk is that the buyer will file a fake "Item not received" claim. So it depends on whether you think that might happen; it's more likely in some categories than in others. All buyers have excellent feedback, since sellers cannot leave negative or neutral ratings and  are forbidden to leave a positive rating with a negative comment.

Also, USPS definitions are clear: the 3 categories of First Class mail (letters , flats, and packages) don't overlap. If you intend to ship your item as a package, be sure it's eligible, by being rigid, lumpy, or over 3/4 inch thick.
