Delays in 'in transit' status?

I have a number of open orders where I received an email saying my order was being shipped, but then is not actually 'in transit' for a long time. Why do sellers do this?

If packages are being shipped via USPS, there are known delays, backlogs, many pkgs are not being scanned, etc. NOT the seller's doing, NOT the seller's fault. Patience is key during these times.

I had over 100 packages picked up the past 4 days.  80% have not been scanned by USPS because during this pandemic they are not required to scan packages in.  USPS has not let the public know about this. Only reason I know is because I complained about it to the post master the past few days.  This is not a seller issue so the animosity needs directed towards the post office.

A lot of sellers do not wait in line to get receipt scans when they drop items off at a post office, that usually explains it.

Also, there is sometimes a delay showing activity on the post office website even if it is scanned in. And eBay marks an item shipped when a label is generated.

I'm dealing with the same problem of no scans - was going to contact my post master today.

Yes the lack of scanning is starting to get annoying. I've got a buyer losing their mind accusing me of "pretending" to ship the item by "marking it as shipped" but "never bringing it to the postoffice" when I most definitely did - it's literally my business and I drop off every day - and I distinctly remember placing the package in the First Class collection bin. And now they're demanding a refund so they can buy the item somewhere else. SMFH.

Hopefully ebay will at least assist in removing any negative feedback from people expecting biz as usual during C-19.

Delays in 'in transit' status?

We dropped off about 15 packages on Tuesday - almost all first class - one was scanned in. Yesterday almost all were scanned in. The Tuesday packages are still not showing in transit. I am dealing with one of those buys who is mad at me and yelling about a package I sent last week. He accused me of not really sending it and I told him we did. Well low and behold it is showing its on its way to him as of a few days ago (before his messages) and I let him know that the USPS is having big delays. I usually dont track my packages all the time but as a small seller - this is very unnerving to see 14 packages not in the system yet. Hopefully they are tracked at the pickup end but I am concerned. I understand the delays but I don't understand not doing your job. The USPS is supposed to scan the labels - sorry but coronavirus doesn't excuse that. Less people is not an excuse either. In addition to Ebay - I am holding down a full time job telecommuting (yes I am one of those office types whose job whose job was put on telecommuting). I still work 40+ hours for them and Ebay on the side. Coronavirus be damned - I still have to do my job and the USPS still should do theirs. Again - I get delays - thats not a problem - but no scans is a big problem as more and more people are sending me messages about if I shipped their item or not.
