Defective Item

My daughter bought her own Gizmo Gadget last December. In August (9 months later) the watch won't stay charged. She spent close to $100 on this watch. I have tried contacting the seller multiple times with no response. I am very upset for my daughter. I can no longer do a return request because it's over a year old. What should I do?

That would be covered by the manufacturer's warranty, so you would have to contact the manufacturer. Some warranties are only valid for the first retail purchaser, and are not valid for items sold second hand or not sold by licensed retailers. However, you won't know unless you try, and some manufacturers do honor warranties for items sold on eBay.

As others have said while I was dawdling, there is nothing to do. You are outside of any dispute windows on eBay, PayPal, or with credit cards, and the seller isn't responding, so either isn't getting the messages, or is and is ignoring them.

The devices do not appear to be available other than for crazy prices, or in refurbished or parts only forms, so buying a replacement isn't really viable (any parts-only or refurbished unit battery is likely at end of life anyway). 9 months battery life on a device like that isn't normal with a new battery, but isn't that far off what I'd expect (12-18months)

You could replace the battery.

Battery replacement looks like it is fairly easy to do with a bit of patience, about a 10 minute job, and the batteries are about $11 according to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_Z81bIylaw

I found none of the batteries on eBay or Amazon, and didn't find any at LG website (a call to LG or further searching might turn them up at LG website - the video is from last month so I'd think LG would still have them)

Did find one from encompass.com at $22.73 delivered.

Order a battery from encompass.com, and perform the replacement yourself, find someone (a friend, relative, acquaintance, friends techy kid) to do it, contact the guy in the video (tech-md.com) and have him do it ($40 +$11+shipping), or send the watch with a new battery and $5 for return shipping to me and I'll do it for free. @ebsproull
