Clearing up misinformation about posting on the Community boards

Hi Community!

It’s been brought to my attention that there are multiple posts that have the exact same content in them. Some of these posts are posted back to back or scattered on a few boards. I’m acknowledging that there will be similar questions posted throughout the Community, but in this case, the posts are exactly the same word for word. Oftentimes these posters post on Community and never come back, and more times than not, the posters are brand new to Community.

I want to dispel some misinformation that’s circulating. Posting/participating on Community does not improve your standing as a Seller or your feedback score. The ranks that are listed on Community aren’t correlated with feedback scores.

Community is a peer to peer support board where buyers and sellers can learn from each other. If you truly have a question and want to learn, I do encourage posting. If you want to engage with others, please do so. If you want to learn, come onboard. If you want to answer questions, more power to you.

Anyone is welcome to post on Community. Before posting, I strongly encourage using the search function to see if your question might’ve already been answered.

Thank you Sheila, noticed you have posted on Shipping, Returns, Buying and Payments, any chance you can pin this to Selling as well?

I'm going to wait for a while before potentially posting on the Selling board.

How about merging the copy pasted threads?

In the rare event where someone is actually looking for an answer, we have patients responders who give out the correct info despite most OPs never coming back (they’re saints really, looking your way @ckimodog ) so the answer they seek will be in the thread, but at least there won’t be 50 individual posts all asking the same thing.

I know that when I come upon a new forum and see lots of almost identical posts, I assume it’s been taken over by spam bots and leave.

the reason people post same questions because ebay does changing ten times a year in their policies, so when there is change in policy so people face issues and post same content.

I don't think they were saying any one specific policy has changed ten times in a year, but rather there are at least ten separate policy changes every year, and I think that is indisputable.
