This morning all my calculated shipping was automatically reset to ebay discounted rates. I went in and changed back to standard rates. This is getting beyond annoying now. When they stop taking fees on shipping, I may consider discounted rates.

This was announced a while back, but yes, they are changing everyone and you have to opt out if you don't want to charge customers the discounted rate.

I'm not seeing how to opt out, can anyone advise?

When it was first announced, I did opt out - I was surprised that it came back again.

I'm grateful we are able to pass along shipping. Many buyers are attracted by shipping price alone. They may tend to view the lower shipping charges as the seller being more trustworthy and honest.
I make my profit on the product not shipping or handling.

I don't consider shipping a profit.
I consider it a bit of help for ebay fees, box, bubble wrap, etc.
Buyers have a choice.

I am happy to offer discounted ebay rates for certain low weight items. But there are times when wrapping and boxing a fragile item that I use a significant amount of time and bubble wrap that I purchase to carefully protect an item. I lost money on a sale recently because it weighed more than I thought to send it. It was automatically at discounted ebay mailing rate.
It would be ideal to be able to offer discounted ebay label rate for specific sales and not others.
The piece mentioned required building a box, super wrapping and much tape... more than an hour to wrap and label.
I am a retired hobby ebay seller. I spend a great deal of time researching finds and enjoy the challenge of research. I try to sell at a reasonable price and often accept lower price bids.

I am not sure at this point you can "OPT out" based on the information on the following message I received. However you can still go into your account settings and change it.
We’re reaching out to let you know that, starting May 15, your listings that display calculated shipping will default to showing eBay Labels discounted shipping rates. The new default rates will apply to all of your active and future listings that offer calculated shipping; listings with free or flat rate shipping won’t be affected.
We’re making this change to help your listings attract more buyers by offering a lower shipping cost. To get the discounted rate that will be displayed on your listings, make sure to purchase your shipping labels through eBay Labels.
If you want to opt out of this change, just let us know here by May 13 and we won’t make any changes to your current shipping rates. You can also switch back to showing standard rates at any time after May 15 through your shipping discount settings.
Please note that this change will only apply to sellers receiving this email.
Thanks for being part of the eBay community.
