Hi community,
I really need some advice as I have zero clue what to do.
This is the sequence of events..
Auction ended 26 December
Item received 30 December to my address in the USA. Meanwhile I had to travel urgently overseas, so I had a family member post the item to me.
When I received the item and it was significantly not as described, it was a clothing item and had damage and significant fading that was not as described, so I contacted the seller on 21 January providing photos and an explanation. The seller refused a refund.
On (Saturday) 25 January I ask eBay to step in and help, they find in my favor and say I need to return the item. (Meanwhile I'm still overseas)
On Monday 27 January I post the item, with tracking from overseas. Unfortunately I made an error with the tracking number I entered into eBay so I called the customer service number and gave them the correct tracking.
The tracking shows that the item is received by the seller on 6 February.
Today 15 February, I receive an email from eBay saying that This case is now closed as this item isn't covered by the eBay money back guarantee and they have determined that I won't receive a refund.
There is an option to appeal but when I click that it says "this case is now closed".. so, I have no item and now no refund.. what do I do? I don't understand why it is not covered by the money back guarantee as I raised the issue within the time frame and sent the item back on the very next business day.
Please help 🙂
TIA

Items that are forwarded from the original ‘ship to’ address are not covered by eBay’s money back guarantee.

Thanks! I didn’t know that!
So in this case I have no item and no refund. The seller has the item. Is there anything I can do?

If you paid for the tractor with a credit card @victdr85 whether directly at eBay, or through PayPal, file a chargeback for the reason Goods returned Refund not issued. Provide the tracking number showing delivered; only the endpoint, not the origin, of the tracking matters, that it was returned to the merchant as requested.
Or if you foolishly used cash or a debit card at PayPal, open a Significantly Not As Described dispute http://paypal.com/disputes then ESCALATE immediately. When PayPal instructs to return the tractor to the seller, provide the tracking.
