I ordered something this morning and I forgot to apply the coupon going on right now. I tried to cancel the order but ebay says it is too late even though the item hasn't shipped. I contacted the seller but they haven't responded yet, I am really nervous
Only the seller can cancel an order, buyers can only ask. You can always use it on another purchase today if the seller doesnt see your message in time.

You could have canceled the order yourself had you made the attempt within an hour of buying the item, so it must have taken you more than an hour to "remember" that there was a coupon available?
The seller has three days to respond to your cancellation request. They can approve or decline it, as they see fit.

Actually, I believe you are mistaken. A buyer may request a cancellation within an hour but the seller isn't required to honor the request.
