Cancelling a purchase after 2-3 months

I bought a guitar thats being made to order.  Its been 2 months and I asked the seller twice to send a photo of the guitar, and twice he said he would do it tomorrow and he didnt.

So I requested a refund, and then he did send a photo of the guitar. But it looks like the guitar still needs a way to go and might take a couple more weeks to another month.

I dont mind waiting for the guitar to be finished. I just dont want to get scammed. Whats the longest I have to get my money back?

also, since I already opened a case, if I closed it, but then decided something bad is going on, can I reopen it?

PayPal gives you 6-months from the date of purchase to file a claim for an Item Not Received.

I'm not sure what case you have opened.  But, if it is for an Item Not Recieved on eBay, then once you close then you are effectively telling eBay that you have received it.

I'm pretty sure that Ebay doesn't allow a seller to do this beyond 30 days for specific orders.  Consumer protection laws don't allow for people selling stuff on the internet if it takes longer than 30 days to fill the order either.

If I were you, I'd call Ebay tomorrow and check to be sure.  Or maybe we can get one of the CSRs to pop in and help.

Thanks for the tag @mam98031!

Hi @mojogoodz- you have 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date to open a request with the eBay Money Back Guarantee stating that you haven't received the item. If it's been longer than that  @orangehound gave you great info on your options. If you paid with PayPal you have up to 180 days to open a dispute with them.

If you've already opened a 'not received' request you have 30 days from the last action taken before it 'times out'. If you voluntarily close the case you won't be able to open another request with us stating that you didn't get it (we'd take your closure as an indication you received the item), so definitely leave it open until you get the item!
