A buyer bought a listing which contained multiple items. They claimed via eBay that the item was defective (it was not, it was as advertised - modified motorcycle engine parts). Eventually the buyer has kept some parts from the listing, the most valuable parts, but is wanting to return the parts for the listing he doesn't want to use and wants a substantial partial refund.
ebay are saying I need to send a return label to the buyer but for a refund I would require all parts back, buyer is refusing to return all parts, just the bits he doesn’t want. Buyer is also refusing to give details I require to issue a return postage label.
Where can I go from here, eBay don’t want to help me as the seller just taking the word of the buyer that the parts were defective, which they weren’t? I feel like I’m in the middle of a scam which eBay won’t intervene in and are actually facilitating due to their policy.

Tell the buyer you do not do partial refunds. You want all the items back. Send them a return label. They may not use it if you are asking for the return if all parts. Should they return and you not receive all the parts return here for more advice.

Thanks, I have already said I won’t accept a partial return as he wants to keep the expensive parts and send me back the parts he doesn’t want for a substantial refund. I already know he has modified and used the parts he wants to keep. I’ll have to send the return label using the delivery address as he is refusing to give me any details for the return, despite demanding a return! So frustrating.

Send the return label and state again they must return everything. If they don't return everything, file a police report and mail theft report. And then call ebay to let them know.

So the buyer closed the case once I’d sent the pre paid postage label and send me an abusive message.
Is there any way I can get a refund from the buyer or eBay for the unused postage label?

If it was an eBay label you won’t be charged unless it has been scanned by USPS.

Can you try to cancel the label

I wasn’t able to do it via eBay so sent a prepaid Royal Mail label as advised by eBay.

Can you contact the postal service to cancel the label

I'd call ebay to say that the label was sent and that they buyer refused to send the item, so you are out of the money. eBay might reimburse you in the form of a credit to your account. Otherwise, you will have to contact the postal service where you purchased the label from.

Post #6 says it all, so ignore all other posts. If the LABEL WAS NOT USED, YOU WILL NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE LABEL.
