Buyer filed to return an item by sending me a picture of an empty case the item was in

eBay ruled in his favor and I don't quite understand how someone can show the equivalent of taking a picture of an empty box and saying the item was never there. I've never had any issues throughout all my time here and I've never had a single negative feedback until just recently. I've even posted a picture of the case of items the buyer purchased from where it's impossible to not notice something is missing like a significant portion of the item by weight difference and by visually seeing that it's not in there because the item is in a clear plastic.  The items aren't opened by me I take a stock from the case and I put it in an envelope when it's sold. His stories had plenty of holes, like he tried to blame my tamper-proof bubble mailer for the disappearance of the unit by saying I should've added tape to the top to secure it. Who does that? I have never in my life seen anyone tape the mouth of the envelope.

Please help me understand why eBay is making me refund this buyer.

eBay doesn't feel like they're on my side at all. When I was explaining the situation to the customer service rep in the live chat he was telling me not to worry and that they have my back after he read the case..

I am sorry this happened to you. It always stings.

"eBay doesn't feel like they're on my side at all." Unfortunately, as a seller, you are responsible for the transaction until the buyer is satisfied and/ or made whole. This applies to ebay, other online venues and B/M stores.

"When I was explaining the situation to the customer service rep in the live chat he was telling me not to worry and that they have my back after he read the case.." This sounds like a rep that wanted to placate you and get off the phone/ live chat. It is also very possible there was nothing the rep was authorized to do. I find this to be a common issue when dealing with CS reps at many companies.

That negative is falling off the radar fast. I had a hard time finding it amonst all ot those positive reviews!
