Buyer Fraud???

I sold some half dollars to a buyer on eBay.  Shipped USPS priority with insurance.  The package was shipped on July 27.  eBay tracking shows it didn’t go out for delivery until Aug 8 at 6:10 AM. At 12:05 it says, “visible damage”.  At 4:00 it says “no authorized recipient available”. August 10 at 4:06 pm it says “package research case created”.  And last it says August 10 at 10:44 AM (which was before the research case was created)  “delivered to agent for final delivery.
I filed a claim with USPS based on the buyer saying the box was empty when he got it.  I think it’s unlikely.  It was taped up pretty well.  Someone would have to go to a lot of work to open it.
USPS called me today and said their tracking shows NO DAMAGE and the box was delivered intact. The representative told me she believes the buyer is scamming me. Why would eBays tracking not be the same as USPS tracking notes????   Has anyone experienced anything like this before????  She said the buyer shouldn’t have signed for the box if it was empty.   I opened a case with eBay and told them that USPS says the box was unopened and intact and what she said about claiming the buyer is scamming me.
Please help!   I don’t know what to do.

Block the buyer, so he/she doesn't buy any thing from you again.

Ask if your purchaser if they will take the package to the PO. This is a necessary thing due to the PO is not going to find for you in an insurance claim with out the package...

Note: the purchaser does not have to do such.

File a insurance claim with the USPS if they will.

Other wise you are going to be out your item and money..

Item not as described is what this is;

and it is your responsibility to get it to your purchaser...

You're selling lots of VERY expensive items - up to over $10,000 -  and then shipping them.

IF, in fact it is fraud, read my post from earlier today -- Portions of it are quite appropriate here, even though you are a more seasoned seller:

That’s a good idea if the Buyer in fact has committed fraud.

This from your Original post say this is not a scam:

"eBay tracking shows it didn’t go out for delivery until Aug 8 at 6:10 AM. At 12:05 it says, “visible damage”. "

Buyer Fraud???

He is sending the box back at my expense. I did file a claim with USPS yesterday.  I called the number to report theft with USPS and the lady in NH where the package was delivered called me this morning and she is the one who insisted the buyer has committed fraud because the according to USPS tracking there wasn’t any damage reported and the box was delivered intact.  I don’t understand why EBAYS tracking shows damage and USPS doesn’t. ??

Box reshipped (returned to you)  violates the insurance.

No way to fake the eBay system: get a screen shot of it.

The postal employee may have just put you off, or the site is limiting information.

That said I have noticed some strange stuff with tracking in the last week...

Thank you.  I would guess I will be out of luck unless USPS pays out on the insurance I paid for.

It could be that the buyer is pretty slick and called ebay support and told them the package arrived damaged, and then ebay marked it as such.  And if that is the case, it is scary for every seller on this site!

USPS locally here is the one that told me once I receive my insurance claim letter I would need to bring the box in to them.   Is that wrong???
