Bug when issuing refund for different items from same listing

So I have purchased two LED drivers from a single seller on Ebay at different times.  The first one was a 100W driver for about $20 the other was a 50W driver for $10.  I bought the 50W driver Feb 5 and the 100W driver Mar 5.  Shipping was designated as being up to 3 months so I thought nothing of not getting the 50W driver when I bought the second.  Some months later I got the 100W driver, tested it and it worked great.  But 4 months after buying the 50W driver it still hadn't shown up.

When setting up a request for refund for the 50W driver the system defaults to the 100W driver.  At first I thought it was my mistake in clicking the incorrect item.  However I double checked and confirmed that despite clicking on the correct item in purchase history, it keeps referring to the more recently purchased and more expensive 100W driver.  This means I will be refunded the incorrect amount - $20 instead of $10.

The algorithm they use to select the item to be refunded is sloppy by simply looking for an item from the same seller without reference to specific characteristics of the purchase - the date/time of purchase.  They may even make sure it is the same item description and listing, but they do not differentiate different purchases of selectable characteristics within that listing.  These purchases can be of different monetary value.  This is just poor programming plain and simple and needs to be fixed.  There are many ways eBay can fix this, but the best way would depend on how eBay organizes, or does not organize, their data.

It is differentiated by the Transaction ID --

which eBay does not properly use.

But PayPal can properly differentiate your payment for an INR refund.

Didn't think of that.  I just went through my records and the two items have the same Item #, different Transaction IDs.  They are probably matching using the Item#, not Transaction ID.  God only knows why.
