Are Buyers always right - And is EBay customer service reps always right even whenyou are adviced to do one thing but it blows up in your face and EBay

then turns around and allows the buyer to get away with.

Buyer started a "item as not descripted case" claiming item was not new but used.

He got mad when I requested pictures and started bad mouthing me.

He did send pictures complaining about a coupler being discolored and a mark on the of the tank ( these are main line lawn fertilization system ).

After I explained all the coupler have a green side and a blue side and the mark on the bottom appear to be from the box it was packed in, he came back at me that I was a liar and a cheat. He also started telling me how he is also a seller ( selling lightbulbs) with 100% feedback and I better just take care of this.

After going back through messages before the purchase I found one that told me was using 1/2 line and then asked, accused him of using this case as a way of getting out of paying

shipping and maybe a 20% restocking fee.

You can not tap the 1/2 lines because EZ Flo does not make a tap in that size. Just like I said trying to make me pay for your mistake.because you did not research what you doing when you planned on installing this system.

This was his reply

That is none of your business, you cant even fulfil your obligation of providing what you are required by Ebay, send over wrong stuff, and then poke in Customer's personal business. Its up to you to not send label, that is fine, come Friday be prepared.

I called EBay and was adviced to approve the return but message the buyer

he was resoniable for return shipping as per my return policy and maybe the 20% restocking fee. acouple days later I receive this message

Hello ,

I'm contacting you about the return request your buyer has opened for the item EZ-FLO EZ 001-CX 1 1/2 gallon main line lawn fertilization system  NEW IN BOX (182821963734) purchased by ledshoppe on

3/19/2018. As the item doesn't match the listing description, you'll need to pay for the return shipping, and once you get the item back refund the buyer the full cost of the item plus original shipping.

We've placed the return on hold for 5 days to allow you to arrange the return shipping with your buyer. If you don't provide a resolution to the buyer or facilitate the return of the item by

April 24, 2018

, we'll close the return in the buyer's favor and issue them a refund, even if they haven't returned the item. If you don't assist with return shipping, the case will be closed in the buyer's favor, you'll receive a defect and forfeit the final value fees for the transaction.

I when ahead and paid for a return shipping label and have receive my items back

but i also sent this message back to EBay

Okay, I have received the two units back and will issue a refund but I'm still having a problem with this whole deal. I have taken pictures of the one unit he open and he never even looked at the second unit. I see no way to attach the picture to this message. There is no sign that these are not new and were used as the buyer claims.
As far as I see it, I'm not going to argue with the buyer anymore but someone beside me should paid out going and return shipping beside me. I also have a 20% restocking fee that is the reason this buyer,( who kept throwing in my face how he is a seller with a 100% feedback in my face) when the way he did, instead of just saying he could not make them work with his system.
And because I asked for pictures and did not roll over on his false claim he contacted EBay and left a negative feedback.
The way I see it someone owes me $40 in shipping and should owe me 20% of the sale, but I would be happy getting my shipping cost back. and the negative feedback removed.
Also I believe if EBay is going to get in the middle of situations
like this they should contact the seller and get their side on the matter, instead of taking the position the buyer is always correct and the seller wrong. I believe there is always two side to the story and not just one (the Buyer side), now if I'm wrong please tell me.
Let me know what I should do from this point, send you pictures, file a seller's protection claim or just take the lost and consider it the cost of dealing with a dishonest buyer and EBay that just figures sellers cost
really is not that important?

Somedays i wonder if my hobby is worth it I have a top seller's rating and until now I had 100% seller's rating for 5 years till this buyer

The old adage, "The customer is always right" is a fallacy.  When it comes to eBay's CSR's being right all the time, I would probably give that a "no way, no how" rating.

No one is ever always right, but I don't think I'd be too thrilled to pay over $200 for something and find it discolored that way.  The item is not pictured from that angle in your listing, so I can't tell if you knew about it or not.

I only find one casual reference to diameter and that seems to be a 1" adapter/connector.  You don't really say what 'main line' is, but in my case, my main water line is 5/8".  Those kinds of details should be included.

I  just had an experience with this type of thing. I had a buyer buy  Batman: Year One Set Comics  #404-407. Right after the buyer paid, he sent an email to tell me that he had trouble with previous sellers (especially with bent corners from improper shipping) and could I take exra caution in shipping his item. He actually told me how to ship it and warned me that if it was damaged in any way, he would return it and ask for a complete refund. I checked the feedback he had left for previous sellers and no where did he indicate problems with shipping. I was tempted to refund his money after that initial email and tell him I didn't want to sell to him, but I figured I would package it the way he requested and be done with it. These comics were in perfect, unread, near mint condition when I mailed them to him. To be extra sure they arrived that way, I packed them in this way: Each comic was bagged and boarded individually, they were then wrapped  together in packaging paper. The package was then put between two pieces of thick cardboard, and  taped on four sides with masking tape. I then completely lined an oversize box with the large very thick bubble wrap (not the cheap thin stuff) and put the above package of comics in the middle of the box. Then I wrapped the box in brown thick shipping paper and mailed it. There was no way shape or manner the comics could have been damaged in shipping. All of this extra extra careful packing I did for him cost me time and money. He paid me only minimum postage. And, wouldn't you know it, I get an email from him today saying the comics are damaged (severely bent corners of course) and he sends pictures of the "damaged comics". He even states in his email that he can't imagine how the comics were damaged because the box arrived in perfect shape. The pictures are not of the ones I mailed to him. He apparently had a damaged set, and wanted my near mint ones to replace them. So he files a request for a refund and of course, ebay says he is correct and I have to give him a full refund including shipping cost and will not listen to my side of the story. If I want the "damaged ones" back, I also have to pay for return shipping. Naturally I don't want them back. Why would I want his **bleep**, while he keeps my near mint ones? Ebay.....where is there any justice for honest, reliable sellers who are taken advantage of by unscrupulous dishonest buyers?

I AM GETTING RIPPED OFF THE SAME WAY RIGHT NOW.

I sent the buyer brand new parts Posi and ring and pinion AS PICTURED...

I too asked the buyer for pictures which took 5 days ... Then showed me pictures of a Open NON POSI carrier greasy and gears used and greasy saying i sent them to him.

How are we the SELLERS suppose to defend our selves against this ... This guy pulled out his old differential parts took pictures of them and said we sent them and keeps our new parts and makes ME SEND HIS **bleep** USED PARTS BACK AND GET A FULL REFUND INCLUDING ORIGINAL SHIPPING TOOK... WHAT A SCAM!

ebay needs to do something about this... all eBay says is well your doing pretty good and there are a few times this will happen...**bleep**  is that the crappiest thing your ever heard.

I do have a few final things to call ebay on that might help as the limited slip unit is heavier than the stock non posi so the weight going to him will be different than the weight coming back.  FED EX shipping plant weighs every package and i can prove the difference in weight with web sites that have weights up and show they are different.

FINALLY I mark every part that leaves the shop with a J D stamp ... so I now the unit and gear coming back will not have this stamp as I know what I sent him BUT I have to prove it and again it will be at the mercy of ebay ....

I have almost 3500 transactions tand they have 5 and have just started in October.... Only thing they bought were 5.00 beads in the other transactions and I am sure they set up new accounts with different computers and names etc.  ripping people off along the way. 😞  It is SAD...  I work very hard to give the customers what they need and make as honest descriptions and work with people that have a legitimate complaint or just plain made a mistake in buying an item and want a return etc.  VERY DISAPPOINTED in the system .  If you have had this happen. let me know if you  lost or won on your decision or have any brilliant ideas for this not happening again.  Thank you for your time,  Jim

The unit maybe used on several sizes of main line and does the buyer have no responsibility to do some research and know what he is buying?

No it just to easy to complain and get their way.

And I do not understand where you see discoloring on these units, and the buyer that knew what he was buying received the same units brought 2 more from me.

But I still paid for the 1st buyer that had no clue!

Re Justice

Because EBay policies serve the best interests of ebay, a result may be unfair/unjust for a seller or even a buyer.

There are a couple of things going on here that I would not have handled that way. First CS reps make things up and are not right often. They say what you want to hear, get you off the phone, things go bad, you call back and then they make up more things but generally fix it to satisfy you. If not fixed call again. And again. I would not reply in a message. Call. With buyer protection you have to take things back. End of story. Fighting with the buyer got you the neg and you had to take it back anyway. Take the return then use your seller protection. Most likely you will be out some $ but possibly not as much if you were more customer service oriented. Selling here is not for everyone anymore. You must follow ebay rules and guidelines or suffer the repercussions.
