I had a buyer that bought a purse and left a vmail about calling her and letting her know if i had another color(which i don't). From what i read you don't contact a buyer only contact them on ebay.
Thanks

To my knowledge there is no problem contacting a buyer by phone after the sale is completed. Ebay usually provides a phone number in the sales record. I have done this many times for various reasons and 99.9% were happy with the customer service provided by a human phone call.

Yes, only communicate through the Ebay platform. This is an attempted scammer looking to rob you of your item and money. New sellers a prime targets. Ignore this person and block them too:

Good for you that you caught it. If it happens again, do the same...ignore and block.
Good luck!

You can, since it appears you were in a past transaction with that person and they kept your contact number. It's a bit odd but not so for some that prefer the old fashioned way of just picking up the phone.
I would politely message them through the eBay system and let them know you don't have the color that way and that you prefer to communicate that way. End it with ..."If you have any other questions , do not hesitate to message me here. I appreciate your business"...or something like that
Hopefully they get the hint.

Since you are new, you are a target of scammers. Only talk to them by messages here on ebay. Most likely this buyer, is testing you to see what they can get away with (a discount, private sell).
Good luck on your selling journey!

I think I misread it as a sale that took place already well in the past. If not, my post doesn't apply.

You can call buyers AFTER a purchase.
It can still be in the best interest of (honest) buyers and sellers to use eBay messaging in regard to the transaction. For example, if a buyer calls and requests you not ship for two weeks and you honor the request you will get an eBay shipping defect. If the request is made through eBay messaging, you will still get a shipping defect, but eBay will remove the defect if you contact eBay and eBay support sees a buyer message requesting the delay in shipping.

I think it is okay to contact with buyer as you want to do your business.

what I don't understand is why & how the buyer left a voicemail. Would that not mean the seller has communicated in the past?
When I buy something from a seller, I'm not given their phone number and don't care to have their number. Just another privacy issue!

I have called or attempted to call buyers in the past in a few situations (large item pickup, a few orders I thought were fraudulent, etc). The phone number is there for a reason, ebay would not give it to you if you were not allowed to use it.

I think most of us here are just giving the OP a heads up as it could be a scam. The OP is a new seller. Still I would only communicate via Ebay. Phone number provided or not.

The buyer's phone is available to sellers, but the buyer cannot see the seller's so the question is how the buyer got the seller's number.

Has a buyer ever contacted you asking them to call them? Did you experience this? Be careful.
