Often after eBay closes a dispute in the seller's favor (rarely happens), the buyer resorts to a charge-back (contacts his bank to dispute the charge). These charge-backs are very difficult to win and eBay washes their hands clean from them. You would have to go through pay-pal to make your case. Why doesn't eBay deal with these financial institutions on my behalf to show direct evidence that the seller was not at fault and entitled to their money? Instead I have to resort to screen shots and explanations that are limited to a few words (character limit in the explanation box). Ebay could really strengthen my case with the financial institution against these scum buyers instead of fighting them on my own through pay-pal who were not involved at the point of sale. Recently a buyer purchased an expensive robot, claimed defective, filed a charge-back instead of returning it and won!!! keeps the robot and keeps the money!!!!
What's your expirence with charge-backs?

Ebay does not process the payment, Paypal does. Ebay has no dealings with credit card companies, Paypal does. This is why Ebay does nothing about chargebacks - there is nothing they CAN do since they are not involved in the payment process.
What kind of chargebacks are you talking about? I have only dealt with unauthorized chargebacks, which are slam dunk wins for sellers. You don't even have to have confirmation of delivery, only confirmation of shipment. I cannot speak for other types of chargebacks, but from what I understand they are near impossible for sellers to win.

Did you refuse to "accept the return" at the onset of the return request?
If so, then that was used against you as the basis for the chargeback.

Because the card issuer makes a unilateral decision about their customer's money. That's as simple as it is, and don't believe anything else!

A charge back has to go through paypal. As stated above, eBay does not process the payment and has zero to do with charge backs.
Charge back protection is through paypal. If shipped with tracking and proof of delivery to the name and address on the paypal payment, the seller is protected. Period.
I have only had two attempts at charge backs. Neither was successful. That doesn't mean that the buyer didn't get a credit from their credit card or bank. It means that the money did not come out of my pocket.
And if a buyer makes a habit of that...guess what...the credit card or bank will cut them off. "Just do a charge back" is not simple.

If the buyer claims SNAD of any sort through a chargeback via paypal, the seller will lose. Ofen they also get charged a fee for PayPal "fighting on your behalf". If a return is required, the buyer will have to send back their proverbial empty box on their own dime. Ebay makes the seller pay for the return.
