why can't I change the duration for selling an item?

I would like to change the duration of an item I am selling from 'fixed price' and  'good till canceled' to a 7 day selling period but the template won't let me do that.  I can change other options but not this one.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It is not possible to change the duration of a Good Until Canceled listing. You'd have to end it and relist.

You have to cancel it, then list as an auction.

The 7-day duration is available for either auction format or fixed price format.
