I've been pushing auctions lately and having OK success until just lately. I have nothing with bids and when I check on the hits they are catastrophicly low (so no wonder no bids). I guess into the Store they will go.

Good Morning.  Auctions haven't worked for me lately either.  Ran quite a few last month, using up those I get with the basic store, and I don't know if I got even one sale from them.  Have another 250 to use this month and I wish I didn't -- wish I just had those extra 250 to use on bins.  Hope yours pick up soon!

Summer just seems to be a really slow time for most.

My sales have been dead in the water for a week.

It was very slow for me last summer too.

The summer doldrums have arrived.

Just as well for me I guess.

My mother is having knee replacement surgery this week,

& I'll be busy helping her when she gets home.

It will be a little difficult keeping up with ebay then anyway.

The would be best. Books and DVD's are not really auctionable material, especially when the start price is the normal BIN price that other sellers have it listed for.

The problem with Fixed Price is that often they sit, no urgency to buy. My experience is all over the map, sometimes will sell moving from auction to Fixed Price, but often Fixed Price to auction.  I generally do  not auction single-title items (more book lots) but I have some single DVD sets lately. 

Asking price is an issue with auctions. Probably most of what I have up now are not priced for a fast sell.

DEAD for me on records!!  Since the 2nd week of May.  Even running promo buy 2 get 1 free and little response.  I have new stock to list BUT it is VERY hard to get excited to 1) clean them 2) pictures 3) grade 4) list if little or nothing comes of it.

I was having success in May with BIN's. So....switched more to BIN's. Now nothing is moving. Lord, I need a really good psychic.

My mother is having knee replacement surgery this week,

& I'll be busy helping her when she gets home.

She'll sleep a lot (when the physical therapist isn't torturing her) and be hooked up to a knee bendy machine for hours at a time.   She'll be mobile - the psycopathic therapists will make sure of that - but those first few days in the bathroom...well...she'll need some help.   Main thing is keep those pills right by her side where she doesn't have to reach far while hooked up to the knee bendy machine; that's the only time she'll be strictly bedridden.

As far as auctions, I am snake bit so take this with a grain of salt. or venom.  I don't think they work here anymore at all for other than a very few items or categories.  I don't even think they're seen here anymore.   Can't tell you how many very low price unsold auctions I scroll through in Completeds.

In the last month or so I've sold items for $400-$600 each.  FP IPR.  And they sold quickly.  Maybe some nonauctioncursed person could have realized more at auction but I priced at the near-top of the market and got my money right away.

I think a lot of those (not really) auctions are appearing because sellers get tired of paying for something (free auctions for stores) they don't use, and throw them out there "just because".

There would be a lot less of the (not really) auctions and more REAL ones if eBay would just let the stores use their listings as they see fit (FP OR Auctions).

As far as auctions - my results vary - some months nothing sells and then other months I'll have a 10-15% sell thru with auctions. Just depends what people are looking for and how long they'll wait before they receive it.

I do wish the free listings with a store were all BIN.

She'll be doing her therapy at home, at least for the first couple of weeks.

Then she's going to go to a PT place two or three times a week ( I think ).

Not at all Holly - we just wish you and her well! Hopefully she's the type that will jump into the program - knowing that delaying it will further delay her recovery. My mom would be one of the ones who would complain it hurt - she can't ect and then wondered why she was having so much trouble when so and so was back to work in xx amt of days.

Keep the pills handy and make sure she takes them even if she doesn't feel she needs them especially  in the beginning. Also if the lower leg becomes red and extremely painful - call the dr immediately!!!! Could be a DVT - although they should have her on blood thinners.

Are auctions thru stores full spectrum..  I mean, can you use 1, or 3 day  instead of 7 or 10 ...but, with BIN start prices?  Since  I am just starting out again, trying to think of the best way to move some things, and ebay forces me to try and manipulate their parameters. Some of my 10 day  auctions might get 10 looks within the first hour that they land, then 0 to 1 look per day until the last 1 or 2 days when the looks increase again.  

I have been trying to decide if opening a store would be worthwhile.  But I wonder if store inventory is even seen.

Opening a store depends on what you sell and how you look at your sales to determine if you're making money....
