vacation mode off - reindexing at insanely slow pace?

my store currently has about 900 items with about 450 being out of stock (so about 450 active listings).  i set the store on vacation mode last week for 3 days (saturday to monday).  on tuesday morning, i turned off vacation mode.  however, the ebay has been extremely slow to reindex my items.  only reindexed about 10 items after 24 hours.  now it's sunday (5 days later) and ebay has only reindexed 300 items so far (confirmed through using different browsers and phone to search).  this is quite ridiculous to be honest (and sales have been horrendous since).  not sure if there is a way to force a reindex.

This has happened to me almost every time I come back from vacation mode.  Each time I have called eBay support and they told me they had to "reset" my id.  I'm not sure exactly what they did, but within an hour or so everything was back up.  If this is a consistent problem, I don't know why they're not doing anything to fix it!  Too bad it's Sunday afternoon though because it's probably an hour wait to get through to someone.  Then you have to hope it's a rep that knows how to "reset" an id!

Is there an expert in the house that can elaborate on why eBay won't do the right thing? Why no (Warning Message) in the (Vacation Setting Screen) where it really matters?

i was on hold for CS while i typed the original post.  after 45 min, i gave up and hung up.  instead, i changed the prices on all my items...then changed them back.  the revisions seemed to have "awoken" the listings.   maybe a quick fix for others who return from vacations and don't see the listings reappearing.

 Be careful when using the vacation settings because when you return and "Turn Off" to reopen "it may take up to 72 hours because of indexing" as per-staffers along with ebay leadership. This is another cover up that eBay will not get in front of? The least they could do for now- install a Warning message in Vacation Settings warning users until they fix the admitted problem.    

I really can't elaborate on my exact case in fear of retaliation from eBay for speaking out.

It has been like that for a long time...here is what I do.
I take the Vacation mode off. After 1- 2 hours I check it and if nothing has happened (which is usually the case) I do the following.
Select all items as though you were going to bulk edit. Click the Edit button.
On the next page once it has downloaded all the items...do not edit anything...just click the SUBMIT button.
Like magic the listings will start to appear very quickly.
Don't forget to do every page of your listings to make sure you get all of them.
I call it Jump-starting!
