unwarranted negative feedback

24 year seller here. 100% positive (Over 4500 feedback score). Buyer requested return due to (false) INAD. Item was new with tag. She removed the tag and washed, claiming there was a "smell", which there was not. Then she said the pants shrunk due to washing. (I think she put them in the dryer instead of laying flat to dry, as per tag instructions, but she would not confirm). Ebay sent return label. Buyer called ebay and said they told her she didn't need to return the item since it was "unsellable", and seller would be required to refund without the return. I called ebay, they confirmed she is required to return before I am required to refund. She said "fine, send me label and envelope to return". I gave instructions and she responded  by messaging me to **** myself. I then spoke with CS since she was obviously not going to return the item to me, and cs said they closed in my favor, refunded her through buyer protection, and released my funds back to my account. I requested neg to be removed, and received email that my request was denied due to INAD. Item was exactly as described. Buyer is not telling the truth. The pants were New, tag still attached, and purchased from the Ann Taylor store. They did not smell musty.  Now my feedback has dropped from 100% to 91% and I work so hard to make sure my items are as described. I feel that I have received an unwarranted negative out of spite from the buyer because I said no return, no refund . I tried to work with the buyer, but she wanted to keep the pants and also be refunded, which she got. Please help me with the negative feedback.

I'm sorry this has happened to you.  It is however unlikely that Ebay will remove the feedback as it doesn't seem to break any rules.  Your comment to the feedback says stuff the buyer never even brought up, so clearly there is a lot to the story.  But still the buyer didn't break any rule.

There is no harm in trying to get it removed.

Go to the Seller Help page. Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a place to click on to submit the feedback for removal.

It may be in your best interest to contact the Facebook/ebay group where you will get someone that can possibly help you. Calling eBay or using the automated feedback removal feature will most likely give you the same results. The Facebook/eBay group has helped many with similar situations but that does not guarantee they can help.

Here is the link provided.

There is no main Call Center number since the Pandemic.  But we have other options to contact Customer Service.

If the OP uses the automated version of asking for the feedback to be removed, even if they say no, does not prevent them from reaching out to Ebay for further review.  The appeal option remains open for them.  Ebay just prefers that the automated version is used first as it will resolve some so that the seller has no need to contact Ebay.

On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

https://twitter.com/askebay

https://www.facebook.com/ebay

https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

I love the way she thought she'd get an envelope for the return as well as a label.

Personally, i do not like speculating what customer service will do or not. I think we all have seen users get feedback removed when some of us thought it would not. Sometimes telling them it is unlikely may prevent them from trying to have it removed. All good and I understand you were trying to help. No worries.

I understand you like to use the automated removal feature or use the AI chat to get a call back but i think in this case it would be better for the OP to reach out to the Facebook group. I am not saying your advice was wrong but instead the OP could actually deal with a competent agent that would be able to help them.

You have some good info to work with and hopefully they take care of it for you.

Good advice @mtgraves7984 ! Many times, it feels worse than it really is. The OP will be fine if they keep plugging away.

Just my opinion...

That was a terrible reply to the feedback.

I would have went with something like:

I know.  When others post something it is "speculation" to you.  Just ignore the fact that I said it was unlikely they would remove it.  And ignore that even though I thought that would be the outcome they should go ahead and put in to have it removed.

"I understand you like to use the automated removal feature or use the AI chat to get a call back ..."  Now you are just inventing stuff as you will find no post that I've ever made on any thread that says anything like that.  Why do you have the need to do this kind of stuff???

"...but i think in this case it would be better for the OP to reach out to the Facebook group."  Really, you speculate that is the best way to go.  Did you even bother to READ the post of mine that you are responding to???  Did you just ignore my statement that said I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Be more careful please.  Don't misquote, misrepresent and fabricate things that you say were said by someone.  Especially when it is so easy to prove that what you have said is completely wrong.

Hey @mam98031 . This is the above post 👆 (#2) that i was referencing. Again, it is not that you are completely wrong (or wrong at all) but there is a faster more precise way the OP could get help. Using the link, you provided can technically work but why not just point them to the facebook/ebay group who is excellent and has proven to remove feedback at times. I hope you see my point (post #3) and no harm no foul. I realize now you thought i may have been speaking of your later post (#4) and that would change the way i looked at it as well. Don't worry about it and I think we can agree the OP will be ok regardless of if it gets removed or not. I still can't stress how good the facebook/ebay group has been to so many but that does not mean your way of doing it will not work as well. Sometimes it is better to just get to the point rather than send someone on a wild goose chase of options.

I appreciate you reaching out to me and hopefully i clarified it to your satisfaction.

I have also not re read timelines before submitting so it is totally understandable and Ok. It happens to the best of us.

OK, let's say that was originally true on your other post.  How does that change ANYTHING I said.  I still said there was no harm in trying to get it removed.  While you refuse to acknowledge it, I did suggest Facebook for them to reach out to CS.  With that said, your approval of what I said or your interpretation of what I said really doesn't matter.  I'm not worried about a thing.  My posts were clear.  You are the one here trying to muddy the waters.

You just need to actually read my entire posts and not try to take things out of context them make them seem to say something they do not.  Just you being obtuse again.

Please take note @mam98031

If you have an issue with a post of mine that has nothing to do with you, please message me directly and we can handle it professionally. You are an asset to the community when focused and generally i agree with most of how you approach certain issues. (76% of the time) I will try to extend an olive branch (as i did many times in this thread without name calling) and say you are much more knowledgeable about eBay policies and procedures (as well as knitting patterns), and I think it is fair to say that I have the edge with how to deal with customers in general (Customer Service) IMHO Both serve a purpose and both can exist together. Someone asked me if you were trolling me when you engaged my post and I told them NO, she is just passionate and really believes in what she is saying. The disparaging part you could leave out and maybe we can both learn from this for the community's sake.

Is that fair, and OK?
