unpaid item case

Yesterday an unpaid item case has been opened. Soon after that the buyer sent me a message asking to cancel the order. When I go to cancel I get the message "You can't cancel this order right now because there's a case open for it." How do I cancel this order?

You can't: It's one or the other.

Once the UID is opened your only options are to pay what you owe or take the strike for not doing so.  The seller can close the UID if you haven't paid your debt within 96 hours.

As hafoster said, you can't cancel now that a case has been opened.

Just let the Unpaid Item Dispute run its course, not much else you can do. If the buyer howls about, just tell him there's nothing you can do because he didn't ask to cancel until after you opened the dispute.

His fault. If he wanted to cancel, he should have let you know sooner. Or better, he should have gotten off of his deadbeat rear end and paid you.

Also, feedback is blocked if there's no payment.

I always deal with immediate payment required now, so I don't run into this anymore. But if I was in that situation I would just let the UPI do its thing and issue the buyer a strike. That's what it's there for.

The buyer clearly only asked to cancel after you filed the UPI. They were hoping you wouldn't bother to do anything when they didn't pay you, and they would get off easy. They should've had the balls to just ask to cancel before you filed. If you let them off the hook they'd just keep doing the same thing to future sellers... which I'm sure sellers hate.

OP is the seller.
