two equally high bids

Hi: I'm selling my first item on eBay. I've received two high bids of equal amounts. If these are the last bids when the auction ends, will eBay automatically choose the "winner?" How will the losing bidder know why they didn't win the item?

Thanks for your responses.

In the case of 'tied' bids, the winner who entered it first will win. eBay will contact both users. Good luck.

Afterthought... your 'high bidder' at $800 might have a bid even higher than $800. Won't know till the Auction ends.

There can only be one winner.

Ebay will notify the winner.

Also, your auction will indicate who the winner is at the end of the auction.

This is really stuff you should know BEFORE you list something for auction.

Yes, eBay will choose a winner. In fact, they already have: The earlier bid is always declared the winner, so that ID is shown at the top of the bid history.  You can even see a footnote about this policy at the bottom of the bid history box: " If two people bid the same amount, the first bid has priority."
