Today is Sunday September 6 2020. I know this will get auto date stamped but I want to clear.
My question is How can I turn off automatic relisting? I have searched many postings for over an hour and they all have various solutions declared "solved" but none of them actually work. Some are four years old. Some are just a month or so old.
They say go to more options. Can't find it.
They say switch to classic view. Can't find it
They say do this or do that.
Some say with an air of authority that it cannot be done.
Others say with an air of authority that it can be done.
Some say it can only be done in certain types of accounts and that it's complicated.
Other go off onto other complaints about notion to do with relisting.
I thinks it's wonderful that lots of people will take their time to try to help others and I'm not trying to be difficult since I'm a first time questioner. I do appreciate what you folks do. I'm just frustrated trying to find a solution to something that keeps getting declared as "solved".
So, does anybody know definitively whether it can or cannot be done Today (see date above)(not a month or a year ago)?
If it can be done, can anybody explain exactly how to do it Today?
Thanks for your help.

If you are talking about automatic renewal of fixed price listings known as 'Good Til Canceled', you cannot turn off the automatic renewal without actually ending the listing itself.

Like chapeau-noir says, if your listings are in the Fixed price format, there is nothing you can do, because eBay has decided a while ago that all of those listings must be Good till cancelled, meaning, they will automatically renew after a month. You can end them with the bulk edit feature, but be aware that listing in the sleeper mode (ended and not relisted) will only be available for 3 month, so make sure to either renew them before that time, or transfer them to a listing service or another place (e.g. bonanza) where they will remain available as long as you want.
Auction listings have a tiny check-box in the listing template that you can un-check, if it was checked without your knowledge, and this will prevent them from renewing 8 times. On the other hand, you can check the box if you do want them to renew up to 8 times.
I hope this helps

But it is most likely still a setting in the preferences because they forgot to remove it when they stopped 30 day listings, more useless code that isn't doing anything except causing problems.

chapeau-noir,
Thank You for responding. I was asking about turning off auto relisting in any and all situations. Your post suggests that the answer is different for different types of listings. Perhaps that explains why there are so many confusing responses.
In my current case, I was not using fixed price format or 'buy it now'. My listings were auction listings that received no bids and I don't want them to continue to to auto relist.

prettywoman-2012,
Thank you for responding. My listings were auction listings so the fixed price answer apparently does not apply.
Your response suggests there is a tiny hard to find option that can be chosen at time of listing and would apply to only that listing. Is this correct?
Can this box be found and changed after a listing is already up?
Can this box be found and changed after a listing has relisted once?
Is there a way to do this for multiple listings or all listings?
Is there a way to set it as a default preference?
Thanks

Prabutfa0,
Most likely? Do you know?
I have scoured my account settings and preferences and found no such option.

@markjc55 I don't have any auctions with automatic relisting on them so I can't test this out, but I found this in eBay's Help pages. Maybe this will do it for you?
How to remove automatic relisting from auction-style listings
You can remove automatic relisting from auction style listings in Seller Hub. Here’s how:

csbbct,
Thank you for looking through the help listings for me. Unfortunately, I had already done that before posting my question to the community.
I found this one you have posted and I tried it. It cannot be done. The action option does not exist.
This must be an old option. I think that is why there is so much confusing and contradictory information on this question. Things that might have once worked and are described in older help sections or postings no longer work.
That's why I wanted to be clear about the date so as to not waste anybody's time; I'm looking for something that will work today.
Thank you for trying

Yes, many of eBay pages are outdated. Sorry it didn't work.
Not sure if you also saw this, but it looks like the quick listing tool sets it automatically. I never use the quick listing tool because there are too many things that eBay selects for you that you don't even realize.

@markjc55 This posting was just made today 9/7 - check out post #5 that has a screen print of the check mark that needs to be removed in the listing. It's in a very strange spot below Return Options. Hope this works!

csbbct,
yes, that's the teeny tiny checkbox that Prettywoman-2012 responded about. As far as I can tell, you can use that when you are creating a listing before you submit your listing. It appears to be the one and only chance. I will look for it and test it the next time I create a new listing.
I cannot find that on active listings. So far it appears that once a listing is active, it's going to relist until it's done and it cannot be stopped from relisting.
Thanks for your dogged determination to solve this

I tried this after seeing the same help page at ebay and it doesn't work. It tells you that you need to have ebay seller pro subscription to remove the relist. Eventually I did find a way to get back to 'classic' view in the ebay seller section. From there it is possible to remove the auto-relist.
Sorry to say that I cannot reproduce the path I took to find the option to switch views. But since this thread has hundreds of views without a solution I thought I'd leave a bread crumb.

I switched from the Quick listing tool to the business tool and the Option appears under the Selling Section.
This is an easy way for Ebay to make money, not giving you an easy option to cancel relist. They start charging after 8 times.
