'something is wrong' everytime I try to sell something

I am trying to get started selling on Ebay and I get through all of the details of listing the item and then it says it needs to send me a verification text.  EAch time I hit send to get the text at the top of the screen it says: (in red) there is a problem, fix below.  The only thing to fix is country code and my phone number.  Both are listed correctly.  I have tried it on my laptop, my ipad, my phone.  I took down the listing and tried over.  I signed out and signed back in.  GRRRRRRRRRRR.  Can anyone help?

Are you using a US phone number? Is the phone number verified?

Try changing your country code to Canada, and then change it back to the US.
