Rumor is going around that eBay is raising there selling fee to 30 percent
Anyone else out there heard about this & know if its true or not

While I have been expecting eBay to increase their fees in the wake of the pending federal legislation to increase the corporate income tax rate I have not heard anything official. The claim by the federal government that they are not going to raise the taxes on the poor and middle class, while it may be true on the surface is bogus since corporations are simply going to pass that cost along to the consumers, aka the sellers. That being said raising the fees to 30% would cause one of a couple of things to happen.
1. Sellers, just like corporations, would increase their prices on their postings to pass along the additional cost and maintain profit margins. This may put eBay at a severe disadvantage in what has already become a very competitive ecommerce market.
2. Sellers may seek other viable platforms, ecommerce or others, to list their merchandise or just completely stop selling all together.

If that happens then everything we sell will have to go up another 15 percent and then that may hurt ebay sales for us and them.

Increasing fees on here to that amount would not be a very helpful strategy for ebay. They are already in competition with many other websites for the same products. Their strategy has to focus on selling more product and more expensive products and attracting buyers who spend a lot on here because they can find it at a better price. Staying competitive is much better than just raising their fees.

According to numerous posters on this board, eBay selling fees are already well north of 30% for them. All because eBay ditched Paypal as the payment processor.

I have not heard this and am wondering where you read it
the rates are about 12.5 for most sellers and I kind of doubt they would go up more than 100 percent

I imagine fees will go up in 2022. After all, eBay is not immune to the current inflation, to the inflation of costs in all its own operations. But 30%? Unlikely. Possible, because anything is, but unlikely.
Where did you hear this? What is the source of this "rumor"? Where is it "going around"? I haven't heard or seen anything like that.

Rumour ? First I have heard, can you be more specific ?
Point us to the link or post or article that has this information, even rumours have to come from somewhere.

The rumor I heard puts the increase closer to 75% did you hear anything about that?

So it seems logical to you that eBay would increase their 12.55% (on most items) final value fee to 75%?
Using reasonable math, wouldn't that mean I would pay $75 FVF (or more) on the sale of my $100 item?
Who starts these rumors?

Raising them TO 30% or raising them 30%?
There is a BIG difference.

Oh heck...if ya wanna start a rumor, make it count...
...something like eBay is gonna take 100% of ALL sales AND then makes the seller pay out of pocket for shipping it to the buyer...
Now THAT'S a rumor!

You mean the USPS will be doing that (or close to that) to their postal rates come July 2022 to be "in line with inflation".....they now call that increase "competitive prices" (anything but). Much Like a Frequent Flyer Mile program "enhancement" that degrades the program---now no one flies with up-the-nose testing of private germs.

All because eBay ditched PayPal as the payment processor.
Thank goodness.

I did hear a rumor that sometime in the future we will have flying cars.
