Just had an offer "Hello I'm very much interested in your item. Kindly text me back on (347) xxx -xxxx so we can discuss about payment and shipment . Thanks"
Wanted me to text for payment and shipping instructions. I responded thru ebay that I only accepted paypal, and the offer was then canceled. A definite scam that probably wanted to send me a cashiers check or similar.
Communicate with customer only thru the ebay network.

Thank you so much for posting this warning. I am a new eBay seller and I got the exact-same worded message from a brand new account with no transaction history offering to buy one of my items. The shipping address was Singapore, but the phone number provided (which I would not have texted or called anyway) was a US number. It seemed fishy, so I came here to ask about it or see if others have had a similar experience. Thank you for saving me a selling headache.

That's a good point. Thanks for that additional red flag to watch out for.

I thought that too (sale item only) but if you scroll down to the bottom of the page below, under the "Need More Help" section, you can send them an email with your item number and the message the scammer sent you with any other info you want. They will respond to let you know steps will be taken against the scammer. I always check the scammer's page to see if their account was closed. If not, I will follow up with a phone call. I've even seen the scammer get additional feedback in the meantime saying "scammer" "never paid" and other similar comments. Most accounts get closed but they just open other ones and keep trying. It's sickening!
How do they get all of these accounts that have been opened for years and years? Newly opened accounts with zero feedback are easier to spot as scammers, especially when they offer you twice the amount it's listed for. Older accounts that have feedback, even 100% positive, and are private are usually scammers too.
I just don't understand how people fall for these and other scams. Sellers must Google ALL addresses to catch those warehouse and fake address (fields and the like) scams too where they say the package wasn't "delivered" and they request a refund and ebay gives it to them. The scam is that they go pick it up at the post office and keep it because "technically" it wasn't delivered. It's just so angering!
And why can't we leave negative feedback anymore that shows up RED instead of GREEN? It's deceptive.
