sales record and orders page (all)

had the following happen during the past few days ...

- buyer msg'd me stating had not received an item mailed 23may pri usps

- checked and tracking said was arriving late (stagnate as of 27may)

- started a trace on tracking number on 3 june (to date no response from usps

- advised buyer i would keep checking every day and let them know, and refund when buyer felt could not wait anymore (

- did my checking each day and let buyer know i found nothing

- buyer started her return, i promptly refunded and apologized for situation again

- 8jun checked tracking again, no change, started a return on usps site

here is where it gets interesting...

- usps wanted proof of value for the claim ... screenshot sales page and cropped just that item out. but item no longer showed full price paid including postage.  showed only the item price of $51.30 but not the $12.80 she paid for postage.

- so i looked at sales record and it was changed also.  now corrected me if i am wrong but isn't a sales record a historical document (re finances)?  and can not be modified or changed.  and if it is, shouldn't it be marked 'corrected copy' for audit reasons?

- the sale did occur; the refund did occur; the claim was filed; ebay documents were changed (for right or wrong)

Thoughts and Comments?  and how do i get copies of the "Correct" Documents, NOT THE "CORRECTED" DOCUMENTS?  (c/s rep stated nothing was changed)

You should have the original paypal record.

i do but that does not address ebay changing 'permanent' records after the fact i.e. the sales record.  i can possibly understand them changing the orders pages.

but from a financial book keeping aspect 'sales records' are just that, receipts of a transaction and PERMANENT.  (feel free to correct me if i am wrong)

Sale means delivery of goods and since no goods were delivered to buyer, then not a sale, maybe attempted sale record.

If I sell a diamond ring for 100k, but not have the ring, can I go around showing a sale record of 100k?
