i had a buyer who asked a question. when i was answering, there was a "reply with an offer" field, so i answered the question and also offered discounted price. buyer said he would like to purchase item for "about this amount"- but now i can't change the listing to add "but it now" button or to lower the price for that buyer as all fields are locked in because i made an offer(through "reply with offer" in emails) and it is good and locked for (me thinks) 48hrs. buyer said he could not see any "counter offer" or similar buttons in our communication, so i ended the listing and relisted item for him. IS THERE A WAY FOR BUYER TO COUNTER OFFER THROUGH EMAILS when replied to seller's offer or buyer made a mistake of not finding that button? hope folks here understand the process better than i do and thank you for all advice in advance.

Unless you have a "make offer" on the listing, there is no counteroffer. You already offered the buyer a discount in the reply so it is up to the buyer to accept it or ignore it.

The only setting for counter-offers that I've found has been in 'send offers' in the seller hub. For the message version, for the couple of counters I've had, I've just gone in and changed the price of the item to the agreed-upon counter and then they go ahead and purchase. The last time I did this was a few months ago, though, and things around here tend to change.

then this "reply with offer" in communication makes no common sense but creates confusion, for me, at least; i will never use it again unless the price is already negotiated- but then i don't always see that button, either. better stick to old and true "best offer" buttons directly in the listing 😃
