So I had an Amazon FireStick - orignal OS not hacked, rooted (proper term for andriod device), or jailbroken (improper term - jailbreaking is only for apple devices). I called customer service and was told to just remove it because I'm saying it's jailbroken. Um, did you see the word "not" before it. "yes". So I need to not fully inform potential buyers and be less than honest? "yes" Just to clarify, you are advising me to be less than honest. "yes". Is this recorded. "yes" Ok, are you being fully honest or less than honest in saying yes? "your listing was removed because you said it was jailbroken". Again, the word not before jailbroken means you're really not looking at the whole listing. "have a great day" click.

Your listings were reported by a competitor. Also, you have been suspened becasue you relisted your items (most likely).

jail broken...fyi...these listings are stating they have jailbroken the device (again, impossible, andriod devices are rooted, not jailbroken like apple devices).
I can go on. Hire some real fact checkers and leave those of us being honest and doing nothing illegal or claiming to be doing anything illegal alone.

eBay's Bots (computer programs) scan listings looking for "trigger" words.
"Jailbroken" is not allowed here, so listings with the word "jailbroken" get pulled by the program.
It doesn't matter if the word "Not" is included.
Bots can't read English, nor decipher grammatical phrases.
You can't put Forbidden Words in your Title..
or you're at risk for this.
No human intervention required.

20,416 results for jailbroken in SOLD listings.
Only 384 in active listings.
Either ebay is starting to crack down, or they get bought as soon as they are listed.
But it's simple to program to look for a 'not' in front of the forbidden word. Well, simple for most ...
But I don't know why the OP would even use it instead of 'original unmodified'.

Yes it's easy to find the word "not" and that's usually the word that causes a listing to be pulled.
It's usually Search Manipulation as in "not Tiffany", "not Velcro", "not OEM" or "not silver".
This case is a bit different because jail broken itself is a risky word to use but people who search for "jail broken" don't want to see results that specificaly state they are "not" what they searched for.
I did have a look in the Help pages and I can't find a reference to eith "jail broken" or "rooted" so I'd guess it's the "not" part that got you.
What specific policy for removal was given in the notice you received?

It was due to copy write infringment. Even after revising, following the words used on other allowed sales, all my listings were removed and my ability to sale anything has been suspended for 7 days.

This made me laugh so much. Thank you!

There is a lot of controversy and confusion about selling the Amazon fire sticks with Kodi. Ebay banned the sale of Kodi on its UK site altogether. Certain Kodi add-ons — the ones that let users stream FREE TV, MOVIES, & SPORTS — may violate copyright laws in the US, as well as abroad. Just to make it more complicated, it may not be allowable for sale if you use PayPal, who has its own list of restricted activities, including items listed that violate copyright laws.
I have been searching for a definitive written policy on fire sticks and have come up wanting. There is a lot of conflicting information regarding online sales of these. While many have been listed and sold on ebay, that is not a reliable indication that it’s actually allowed. Many have sold without incident on the one hand, while sellers are being permanently restricted with no appeal on the other. All for selling the Amazon fire sticks with Kodi.
If it were my account, i wouldnt touch these with a ten-foot pole. Anything troublesome enough to get you a 7-day ban on selling is a very high risk for relisting. I know good money is being made with these, but my advice is don’t risk it. The “jailbroken” issue is just one among many complicated problems associated with the sale of the things.
