If an item is listed as "New With Tags", do the tags have to be attached to the item or simply included in the package with the item?

If I were to buy an item that was listed as "New with Tags" I would expect the tags to be on the item, not include with the item.

Attached to the item implies it hasn’t been worn.  Included with the item? Who knows?

If your customer is complaining that they bought a NWT item and the tags were not attached, you will lose the Claim.

Send the Return Shipping Label, refund on arrival, relist as NEW WITHOUT TAGS.

If you sold an NWT item and on return the renter buyer had removed the tags, they have substantially changed the item and in theory , they should lose the Claim. 

Others can report how that has gone for them.

Not every transaction goes perfectly.

Depends on the item.  Lots of jewelry brands come with tags in the packages, but not attached to the item.

Yes, I did read that

"New with tags: This item is brand new and has never been worn. It still has the original tags and/or original packaging"

and it's a bit vague if item "has the original tags".  I wish they'd clarified that they must be attached if that is the case.

Ok, I found it under "Item Condition by Category"

New with tags / box – Clothing or shoes that are unworn, and still have the original tags attached, or are in the original box.

Chiming in

As a seller I don't offer any items with tags.

As a buyer,   If it's listed as NWT the tag best be attached,  

Or I'll be unhappy.

How about a Fake Coach or Prada Bag with a real tag.....?

They should be attached to the item.

If not, they can throw just about any tags in the box.

That implies to me that the tags are intact as attached by the manufacturer or retailer.

Items without tags actually attached I sell as pre-owned, excellent condition and cite the tags are not attached, but included. I source my items from a lot of different places including shop displays, etc., so I can't be sure and figure it's better this way.
