"Item not Received" claim after leaving feedback and signing for delivery

So, a buyer of a very expensive comic book (~$4000), who signed for delivery TWO MONTHS ago and provided immediate positive feedback, now says they didn't get the item.  I understand this will likely be decided in my favor, but why does ebay even entertain requests of this sort.

"Item not Received" claim after leaving feedback and signing for delivery

Under most circumstances an Item not Received DISPUTE filed by a dishonest buyer will not prevail with a chargeback. The CC company needed the evidence shown that the item was delivered to the correct address and recipient on the Ebay account and the credit card holders account. If this is a payment dispute on a credit card you still must respond on the dispute to challenge it and re enter the tracking showing delivered and anything else you can throw into the mix to prove this item was sent and DELIVERED. UNDER no circumstances should you let this case sit without responding to the email sent by ebay. Do it right away.

It appears that your 'buyer' has filed a request for chargeback with their financial institution.

FOLLOW the directions "to the letter" when ebay messages you.......

You will probably need to get all your 'ducks in a row' if this "buyer" is in fact trying to get his item for free.....

Have all the information handy (including the scofflaws name, address etc....) any correspondence...tracking....everything....

unless this is an error filing by the "buyer", ebay has been known to acquiesce to the banks demands...

If so, then they are just trying to evade paying their credit card bill.  I would think the CC companies have seen this before.

so what have you received to indicate there is a dispute?

from ebay?   from the 'buyer'?

If the notice is from ebay, were there no instructions for you?

"Item not Received" claim after leaving feedback and signing for delivery

I did get signature confirmation (ebay requires it for high-value items), and the Post Office has provided me with a PDF copy of their records showing the signature.  Further, he left immediate and glowing positive feedback confirming his joy with the item.

Question:  How do I provide the USPS signature record to ebay?

I believe you can email them the evidence. They do also allow fro a file to be uploaded with the case response details, but there may be additional emails through regular email to be sent not the ebay email. I would call for DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS.

The fact that you has signature confirmation is going to go a long way in fighting this chargeback as well.

All you can do (to the best of my knowledge) is comply with any and all requests from ebay messages.

Those will guide you and tell you what they require to defend you from this dispute.

When they need something THEY will ask you for it. Do not do anything (contact) on your own (at this point)..just make sure you do what is "asked" of you....(from ebay)

Oh yeah, they see this ALL THE TIME. PEOPLE nowadays use a credit card to steal instead of a gun in your face.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page link I posted, you can contact an agent or have them call you.

You should be able to upload additional proof into the case or email it to them as VC noted above.

Oh, I responded almost immediately with a statement and a reiteration of tracking.  I only wish I could upload the (PDF) Proof of Delivery I have from the Post Office.

Contact ebay rep by phone.  Was told I have nothing to worry about, I have done everything right.  Hopefully true.

Keep thinking, you’ve been away for a while?  Ebay new policy is to get rid of sellers, maybe you sell mire/expensive items and arent affected yet.  For us little guys, they are on a tear to get rid of us to make room for super high volume Chinese chit.  It’ll accelerate now as Amazon is introducing a Temu competitor and ebay is trying to compete with Amazon.

Regarding bogus ‘item not delivered’ claim, there’s just as much chance you will lose, and if not, the buyer will do a cc credit card, which is fully automated and you will definitely lose, because no one is going to defend you.

not being a typical jerk, but sellers are not understanding the risks out there.
