out of stock cancellations

Just curious on how it is seemingly ok for a seller to have items listed (30k+ items) with "over 10 available" and yet continues to cancel orders for no stock. How many times can a seller do this and not get penalized? I am speaking from experience as this seller has canceled two orders on us, and not little orders.  Just wanted opinions and thoughts as this is frustrating that this seller can still operate like this and if I were to do it, I would be banned for life on the first cancellation!

As you don't appear to be an active seller you may not know about the current bugs going on. eBay has broken something that is causing seller's items to have wrong quantities or listings that were 0 stock go back up to the original listing quantity. If an order is being canceled for out of stock it might not hurt to ask the seller what is going on.

Otherwise under normal circumstances there are consequences for "out of stock" cancellations.

Thanks for the reply, however I am an actual seller and keep up with all the fun stuff we have deal with here lol , just not on this acct. Its my personal one.  And another thing is i am aware  of his supplier/vendor, as i have purchased from them since they are local to me, and they are completely out of stock of most the items seller has listed and "available"

Seller even sent message, hey out of stock going to cancel order.. yet still shows them available.

If it isn't related to the current bug then they will be on the hook for the final value fees. I forget if there are any account impacts beyond that. Hopefully this is just a one time error on their part.

I came here to look for this exact issue myself as Im currently in the same boat. In my case the seller asked me to choose 2 new colors of the product i was buying and i looked back through the listing picked 2 more and told them the item numbers. I get back on today to see theyre now telling me they do not have the set of products i ordered at all. How is it a cpl days ago they were only 2 colors short but now all 6 colors are out? Then I see a ton of lisings from this seller that are the same. It appears someone may have wanted an interest free loan at my expense. SMH

Have you checked their feedback to see if this has been an ongoing problem?

TRS - Less than .5%

Above Standard - Less than 2%

With 30,000 MQ listings this seller is probably doing BIG volume and can probably withstand quite a few cancellations.

Or maybe they just claim they are all "buyer requested".
