i mailed the buyer extra trading cards and he made a claim. he got his card and more help?

so i made a mistake i shipped a wrong item to a person and quickly realized it. not a biggy as i still have the item and mailed it out later that afternoon. i messaged the buyer and told him there are 2 packages on the way one had the wrong card in it and the other has the right card and they were mailed half a day from each other. both tracking uploaded. the other card is worth twice what his card is worth. not that should matter i told him to keep the extra card a bonus. so he received the bonus card today and the other should be there tomorrow or next day. wish they would have arrived the same time.  now i got a case opened against me from sending wrong item. and getting very crabby non understanding response. im kinda wondering what other user would do in this situation.  normally i would just refund but its not like his card is coming late. i have a 3 day handling time and i shipped it 20 mins after he bought it.  as he got me right before i was going to usps in the morning, so i was able to get it out right away. i mailed the wrong card like 9 a.m. and  sent the right card at like 4 or 5 p.m. right before they closed.

Is the Tracking Number that was uploaded to eBay for the wrong Card? Can you upload two Tracking Number for the same order?

Not everyone is out to rip off someone from eBay, so hopefully this will work itself out in the next couple of days.


If they file an Item Not Received Claim, then you may have to reimburse them if the Card does not show up.

I think less is more at this point.  You have a great mix of items and a solid feedback score.  You made your point and tried to smooth things over.  What the buyer does is out of your control so I wouldn't get into a back and forth with the buyer.  See what arises with the case and make a plea or whatever it is sellers do when a case goes against them.  Early on in the first year or so I had one negative feedback that stuck around for a year.  I learned real fast not to dwell on it or look at the 99.7% rating because I knew that after a year it would and did drop off.  That was eight years ago.  Water under the bridge.

Not every buyer is going to be understanding and patient. You made a mistake, and are now feeling the consequences. The buyer has a right to be put out, in all fairness.  But it is a shame that he is acting like you are not going to fix this, when you already have. It is possible the buyer did not see your message explaining what happened, so he went straight to eBay to protect his interests. Since he opened the case, you will have to answer to it. What kind of case did he open, Not Received or Not As Described? How you respond will depend on which kind of case it is. Just don't let the time expire for you to answer.  Also, in the case notes, include the same information you messaged him when you discovered your mistake.

 

I am a little confused about the two tracking numbers. Are you saying you uploaded both to the case?

Why does the buyer have a right to be put out? The OP mailed the correct card out the very same day as the wrong one. We're talking a matter of hours.

Give it some time, the "re-sent" card should come in.  The buyer should feel grateful of your gesture of letting them keep the wrongly-sent card.  Otherwise if they opened a case, then the buyer will have to "return" the card, so not a big deal.

Thanks for the reply yeah the first one uploaded, that would be the mistake one. i printed a second label and it also uploaded. so both are there. he did open a item not received case. if i noticed before i went to the post office i would have just swapped the contents. 

 

he did reply back to me today with a thumbs up. what's that supposed to mean i will find out i guess. i also could be dealing with someone that dont speak good english. i got my fingers crossed.

i just want you to understand i mailed his right item the same day i mailed the wrong item so he is not getting his item late at all, actually days early.  he is just getting a extra item and im getting a case opened against me. i also messaged him day i shipped it letting him know its two packages 1 has a card shipped my mistake please keep it on good faith.

If he gave you a thumbs up and that is all, I would take that to me he received the card.  Does you tracking show the second card received?  Ask him to close the Item Not Received Case.  Can you respond to the case?

 

You may need to call eBay and get them to close the case.  If you do not respond to the case eBay may close it in the buyers favor and give them a refund.

thumbs up from buyer before it was delivered case still open. i'm thinking he might not speak good english. he just thumbs up to my message telling him the day i shipped the item that there are 2 packages on the way just keep the extra card inside. i mentioned the card and what it is and the situation along with both tracking.  i responded to the case with the same message i sent him originally with exact info needed. also added the tracking although it was in ebay system already. 

 

he bought it on a friday early morning and shipped it  right away. normally i have 3 day handling as i work every other day. i realized when i got back from the post office i still had the card on my desk so i made up a new slip with new tracking and brought it right to the post office hour later(usps did not scan it in till almost 5pm). ebay system says with my handling time to ship by weds fo this week. he put a claim in tuesday. day before my deadline for shipping. so he was getting his right card 3 days sooner than expected he got the wrong card like monday. so 1 of the two packs shipped the same day arrived way earlier to the same address, the reason why this escalated. he need to read his messages.  

 

ps just checked it is out for delivery today saturday. hopefully he closes the case and understands whats going on. 

 

all in all who would complain to walmart or amazon if they received bonus items with there purchase.  i assume he is not able to understand his messages or not reading them or outright out to get something for free. only 3 feedback so we will see

Well then I guess his thumbs up meant he was ok with what you were doing.  I am sure this will work out ok for you, just make sure to keep up with the Item Not received Claim and get it closed.

i had to have ebay close the case. closed in my favor as he made no effort to close the claim  as i had tracking. got my fingers crossed and hope he leaves good feedback or non at all. did look at what he has left and out of his 200 plus feedback received he left  1 negative. i'm guessing he's happy. case closed

if i did not have tracking it would be screwed unless he responds. most trading cards under 10 bucks don't have tracking. i feel for all that get screwed from the buyers market but this market is what keeps sale going so all in all................................................

Do you purchase your shipping from eBay?  If yes, are you saying you are not always provided a tracking number?  I get a tracking Number for all my First Class Packages.  I have not used First Class Envelope but I thought eBay worked an arrangement to get Tracking Number for envelopes?
