@ceylonartsllc, if you are going to operate a business in the USA, then you will need to have either an SSN or an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number). An ITIN is for a non-USA person who needs to have a TIN because they have tax liability to the USA, but who is not eligible for an SSN.

The link provided by @krazzykats gives more information about the several kinds of TINs that are available, and specifically how to determine if you are eligible for an ITIN, and how to apply for one.

You will have to provide a TIN in order to open a USA-based business checking account, which will be required if you are planning to register as a USA-based seller on eBay.

If you are operating a business in the USA, then the owner of the business will have USA income and will be liable to pay USA income tax. If you are trying to do this in order to avoid income tax liability in your own country, I don't think that is going to work. The other poster you asked for help (on a thread that is now locked because of the age) is now NARU (Not a Registered User) on eBay, so they were not able to resolve this issue.

     Prior posters have already provided the ITIN information and what you need to do to get your US business established. About the only other thing I would add is you will need to be specific about setting up your eBay account so it appears as a business and not as an individual account. It will make a difference in how eBay issues you your 1099's among other things.
